AS and head banging

I was told that as a very young child I used to slam my head against the floor or on cement when I'd have tantrums. Apparently I did it so violently that my mother would have to grab me and keep me from doing it. Something about fearing I'd kill myself.

I don't do this anymore, but I do other self harm stuff when upset instead. I don't like headaches.

I never banged my head or intentionally inflicted any harm upon myself at any time. First, my mother conditioned me this way. "Don't get dirty, and don't get hurt!" she would say to me before I went out to play. What is the fun in that? Second, I have always had a low threshold of pain. - LJS

when i would wake up in class, my head would bang uncontrollably and my legs would stomp. I never knew why, if the classroom was really cold it would be a lot worse. I also did it at home too, but only when waking up. Maybe waking up overwhelmed me or something.

One time, when I was locked up for drunk in public I banged my head into the door as hard as I could until they pulled me out and put me in solitaire. Of course, I didn't know I was in jail at the time. I passed out at somepoint and woke up in there. I thought I was in some secret CIA prison or something, which had been on the news constantly. The jail I was in was very dark and had graffiti scratched in all over the walls, that didn't help either.

I use to head bang when I was a kid. So did my brother even though he didn't have AS.
