I usually lose my interests after a couple of years. Eventually I find something to replace them, but the time in between losing an interest and finding a new one feels like torture to me.

I have upgraded to the Alternative Spectrum, inclusive of everything... more to think about :)

yes. I have never had a special interest that lasted longer than a year, and most of them only last for a few months.

Mine can change or evolve (ancient Rome to ancient Greece to ancient Persia). Sometimes I'll just suddenly totally lose interest in a topic I've obsessed over. But then I have a couple that I've had pretty much my entire life.

I was going to ask if it was typical to go from interest to interest, and it seems like that is the case for most people. I usually get obsessed with a certain topic for a few months to years, learning as much as I can about it, and then it fades away for the next interest. I still like certain interests that have faded away, for instance, playing the guitar, but I just don't play every day. My mom's psychology book described this as being "motivationally gifted."

It happens. Trying new things can help you find a new interest faster.

Never. My interest in (special interests) them does fluctuate from time to time, but I always come back to them.

It's true. When I got tired of watching anime, I tried live-action movies and now all of my special interests are based around live-action movies.

I wish I could write a novel! I love to write, I just seem to lack inspiration, and also patience. I just get sick of whatever I'm writing after a month or two, and I give up.

Oh, me too! I just force myself to do it, like exercise. And I only write for up to 2 hours a day and no more.
