As a kid I would always tug at the front of my shirt just above my belly button and crack my knuckles so much that now at 27 I can tell I will have arthritis at a young age. While I will still occasionally crack my knuckles, nowadays its mostly my neck, back, and jaw that get cracked. I've also been known to drum my fingers for as long as I can remember, and when I'm at the computer I'll draw my right foot up under my left thigh so my foot hangs off the chair a little and I'll bounce it up and down a little. I also have a tendency to stroke my goatee.

My stimming usually is rocking fore and aft, hand wringing and pacing up and down the main corridor in my house.

Humming, whistling, leg bouncing, mostly. Are they stims if you're not aware that you're doing it?

rocking, hand flapping, finger flicking, head banging, pacing for up to an hour if I'm thinking about something, and jumping around and spazzing out when I'm really excited or just have too much energy.

When I was younger I used to chew the hell out of my shirts, hood strings, and sweatpants/short strings.

Used to be twirling my hair, so I cut it short.
Has always been tapping/drumming my fingers and pacing.
Over the past few years I've started flapping/clenching/twisting my hands while listening to music.
I've also begun counting my steps, etc. but that might be from marching band. There's no telling what a drum major and four years of marking time and roll stepping can do to you. :)

Oh gosh, how much time do you have?

Flapping. Anything involving moving around arms or hands. Shaking them. Twisting them. Moving fingers around. Finger drumming.
Leg shaking. Foot waving.
Making a clicking sound with my tongue and teeth.
Moving head around. Rocking.
Looking up. Can be a stim. Sometimes I do it without knowing why.
Biting hand.
Vocal stims. Humming. Making animals noises. Saying words over again. Singing the same line.
Scruffing up hair or moving it out of my eyes, even if it isn't in my eyes.
Lining things up or stacking.
Jumping up and down when excited or just in a hyper mood. Sometimes I do it when I'm nervous. Like when people are angry at me I'll bounce on the balls of my feet.

Leg bounce, retracting my fingers in order, twisting my beard, tapping my pointer and middle finger against the top and bottom of a desk, etc.

:D +1

although I am not always sure about the distinction between stimming and tics

I consider some of the things that people here list as stimming as tics

In the past week I've been stimming a lot more than previously. Stims I've caught myself doing in front of people:

Rocking
Hand flapping
Twisting my fingers/hands
Staring at lights
Finger flicking
Snapping fingers
Pacing
Rubbing my skin on my hands/forearms.
Some kind of thing I do with both hands that's not quite like rubbing my hands but almost. It's slightly more complex than that, like I fold the fingers on one hand and rub my fingers on my other hand over them, and swap.
Click my fingernails
Tap out the Master's heartbeat from "The Sound of Drums" on anything (but I've been doing this for months)

None of these are new, they're all familiar movements, just more frequent and less filtered.
