Come on. Tea curing autism? TEA?

Maybe not spam, but absolutely ridiculous.

I don't know where everyone is reading that tea is a cure for autism, that is not what the OP is saying! Just that it has helped HIM with some of his SYMPTOMS. Same as Omega 3 (vegan version) helped my concentration span but didn't CURE my ADHD. As I have mentioned, tea can be very good for anxiety.

The symptoms he describes the Magic Tea curing sound like they are copied directly out of the wikipedia page on AS. I have no idea what his motivations are, but he is obviously very unusual. How many of you used your first post (and all subsequent ones) not to ask questions or learn something but to push some fringe cure for autism? How many of you had learned everything you would ever want to know about your condition after two weeks? Sophisticated spammers know that direct links and the like will get them booted pretty quickly. Drumming up interest in a miracle cure and then spreading it around a community of Aspies can still have an economic upside to any given manufacturer, distributor, marketer or industry professional without pointing at one particular brand.

Maybe I'm hyper sensitive to excessive enthusiasm. The title of the post "this changes EVERYTHING" is over the top, then there is a breathless description of an herbal product providing a near miraculous transformation.

Fine. If it works for him, wonderful. I default to "if it sounds to good to be true it probably is". That makes me a curmudgeon.

A curmudgeon is an individual afflicted with an uncommon amount of common sense.

When someone shares that a substance helps alleviate a specific symptom, why do people jump to the conclusion that they've said they are CURED?

Helps alleviate a symptom DOES NOT EQUAL a cure claim!! !! !! !! !! !

Is it possible that the capacity for symptom alleviation of this particular preparation was being vastly overstated?

If you're trying to relax, take off the edge, and deaden your senses then a couple beer will probably be more effective than snake oil tea.

No. I've seen this sort of posting many times before and each one has turned out to be spam.
Surprising as it may seem, I even receive many personally addressed EMails making similar 'truly amazing' claims for the efficacy of many things. Mostly certain small, blue pills - but they're all essentially the same thing.

Not directly, but quite possibly indirectly. That's how it usually works because otherwise you'd have set yourself up as an easy target which would be too easily investigated by those who might take a more serious, "regulatory" interest in the claims made.

Sorry, but at the moment I really doubt that is true.

This isn't his first post at all. If you actually bothered to look at his history, he has posted elsewhere too.

Also you guys are all being jerks. I hope you're all happy making someone new feel unwelcome. If you're that bothered that someone out there is HAPPY with who they are, maybe YOU should all go away and stop being nasty to everyone who comes on here.

Yeah I don't care if this gets me banned either cause I am just going to f*****g kill myself anyway. Bye you as*holes

They never said cure. They posted in another thread very un-spam-like which leads me to believe they are not a spammer.

Now I'm leaving this thread for life. I will PM that person though.

I've never heard of it so looked it up and found that it is not only considered an antioxidant; but also an adaptogen. An adaptogen is used by herbalists to refer to natural herb products which they believe to increase the body's resistance to stress, trauma, anxiety and fatigue. Most of the symptoms the poster described could be a result of anxiety. If the poster went to a herbalist it is possible that he would be offered this herb to reduce anxiety. He mentioned he had difficulties but indicated he had a normal life, so it doesn't sound like a debilitating case of AS at this point, and it is possible that when he goes for his diagnosis that he just gets a diagnosis for anxiety and is offered anti-depressants or anti-anxiety medication.

I've seen many people that are extremely enthuisiastic about herbal remedies. Personally, herbal remedies are not my cup of tea. I've seen studies that indicate that placebos work better than anti-depressants for minor depression. I think the placebo effect can be more powerful than some drugs and at least enhance their effectiveness. Placebo equals hope and hope fights dread regardless of the reason for it. It seems that the poster has a great deal of hope because he got an unexpected result of relaxation from the herb. If so, hope is not his imagination, it is real, affects his brain chemistry, and can reduce the symptoms of anxiety. I don't know enough about herbs to make any judgements there, but I know in general they can provide effects similiar to legal drugs.

And, if anyone tries the herb for 25 cents and it relaxes them a little bit and they feel just a little bit better than if they didn't try it at all, the post was worth the effort.

To the OP: I apologize for my first response; I had misunderstood your post at first. There are some herbal products that can help to relieve tension, and if the tea you posted about helps you, I'm glad.
