3 years ago i was not so depressed and my friends enjoyed my company. but i don't think its just me that has changed its them as well.

i find that exercising and going to the gym helps me feel better mentally its just that i ran out of money for it nearly 1 year ago :(

You can try going out for a walk or run. The greatest thing about the great outdoors is it's completely free :)

ooOoOoOAnaOoOoOoo's proposal sounds like a great idea to me. And it's not just running. There is stones and logs for weight lifting, fallen treetrunks to brace your legs against for leverage while you do your physical excersises, sandy stretches along rivers for an especially trying workout. Once you start looking, you will notice lots of handholds for pulling yourself up. Sheer creativity can make up for a lot of professional equipment. Just keep your own safety in mind.

You could try searching Google or Youtube for clips related to "Trimm dich!" or "Trimm-dich". That was a German movement during the Seventies that had people work out in public parks and forests and you can certainly glean some inspiration from them.

On second thoughts, are you sleeping regularly? Not massively overweight? No drug abuse, not even smoking? Then maybe you need professional help. The way you turn down every single piece of advice people offer to you sounds like you are dealing with a massive bout of depression. When was the last time somebody did a simple checkup on you? How's your thyroid gland doing?

Yep! People used to use stuff like that in the good old days before gyms. They would make their own weightlifting machines out of sandbags and pullies. There's also rocks and wood chopping if you live on an acreage with lots of trees :) There's plenty ways to get in shape out there ;)

I'd still propose that you have yourself checked for a depression or anything physical that might manifest itself looking like a depression. Either your self esteem is totally down the gutter or you're dealing with something more than we can help you with via WP. Depression can make everything look bleak and not worthwhile and it can be really tough to work one's way out of that dark valley, but it can be treated.

As a first step, I'd propose improving your sleeping patterns, eating enough fruit and vegetables (Yes, that can help. Seriously.) and get out to get some fresh air and sunlight. But in the long run, I reckon you'd better go see a doctor to find out what can be done to make you feel better again.

I just think too much is my problem. my brother really has done everything in his power to ruin my confidence as well. my self esteem will probably repair itself again in a year.

Welll... yes. If you want to change in a way that the world sees you differently (especially your brother!) then get yourself aerobically fit. The best way is to ride a bicycle an hour or an hour 15, five days a week around a circuit... always trying to improve your speed and times. I guarantee you if you do that... in six months you will feel taller!

Seriously - what a d*****! I feel so bad for you having a brother who is doing that.

Since when is 5'10" short? Seems like a perfectly fine height to me.

5'10" - 6'0" is fairly average where I am from. Any man well over the 6'1" mark is just freaking huge by most people's standards here. Maybe your brother feels a bit out of place being so tall and is trying to feel better about it by being a bully. Doesn't make it right, but knowing he has insecurities too could put you on a more level playing field...

I just wanted to say sorry about losing my temper last night like that. I must admit that I was becoming a bit annoyed about the way you turned down every single proposal people offered to you, Jamesy, but I still had no business going berserk on you like that and asking you a bunch of rather personal questions that had little to nothing to do with the problem you originally described in this thread. I do apologize for being short-tempered and for letting it out rather than just walking away and leaving your thread to look after itself.

It may not have looked like it to most people, but I did and I don't think that posting out of a feeling of annoyance is what I should do on WP. While I do regret my behaviour towards you, I also needed that apology to come to terms with myself again.

Why do you think it will take that long? When people say things out of anger they often don't mean what they say and feel bad about saying it, later, after they have cooled off.
