For your information sir, (or madam....i'm betting you are male with a name like "kfisherx" however not to mention the pic of a male as your default pic) up until about six months ago, I was suffering from severe depression. Clincal depression. Now perhaps you're a better man than me and if so, it's no cause for celebration on your part from my deterministic perspective. That is, I don't believe you had any say-so or "free will" in your "better man" status and likewise I had none in my "lesser man" status.

Oi, no attacking. That's breaking every forum rule on the planet. What they said was offensive but keep in mind this is an autistic forum where people don't always think of the consequences of their words.

My labs came back fine but I was still told to exercise. Anyway, I hope you can stabilise your blood levels or whatever.

Now stop the hatin'. Just ignore the people that upset you.

You completely misread me and my AVI. I am female and quite gentle actually, though I tend to be blunt. I was LOLing because you already knew WHAT the root cause of the results you were given and even had a solution outside of meds for them. Your "panic" was funny to me given this. Since you are in the med field then it isn't rocket science to you... People who are fat are going to be in line towards all manners of disease and issues. I was fat once and had horrible labs, shortness of breath, sleep apnea, etc. Once I got the weight down they all sorted out. At some point you gotta deal with the root cause of the issue or give over to all the things that being fat causes to your body. There are precious few people who can carry around 50 extra lbs of body fat with no symptoms. Thems the facts.

I can't access your actual results as you must log in to that link you sent, but any specific questions you have about particular results I will be happy to help as mush as I can.

It's not as if I care if anyone on WP knows my real full name/one of my email addys and a password that I haven't used for anything else.

I found out what these acronyms mean anyway from my nursing student friend out of state. Still...if you and/or anyone else WANTS to check out all the results and share your insights, you're more than welcome to do so :) Thanks in advance!! !

Sorry.......I thought you were mocking me

I was aware of the root causes. What I didn't know is whether I could safely get away with relying on diet, exercise and cutting back on drinking or if I really needed to get on a Statin like Lipitor. I would be quite unhappy about the later since i'm already taking enough Rx meds (Celexa for depression and Achiphex for Acid Reflux Disorder) and don't like taking ANY if I can get away with it. The Celexa has helped me enormously though and the Achiphex keeps the heartburn (and possible damage to the esophagus) at bay.

You have to be careful with these Proton Pump Inhibitors like Achipex though. Some studies have shown that they have a negative impact on your Calcium levels, so I don't take the Achipex everyday for one thing and I take a Calcium supplement for another. According to both that nursing student friend of mine and my own researches Statins would not be contraindicated for either Achipex or Celexa.

Anyway.....i'm not sure how I gave you the impression i'm in the medical field. :? I've never taken any medically-related class in my life aside from stupid stuff like human growth and development, psychology (intro and abnormal in college/uni), biology, etc.....I haven't even taken Anatomy and Physiology I though I own a copy of Gray's that I rarely look at.....lol.

Medical science per se just doesn't interest me that much unless you want to consider psychology/neuropsychology/forensic psychology medical science. I might have sleep apnea right now as well, because I snore heavily. When my body weight is ideal or close enough to it (which it was as little as a year ago), I don't snore at all. I've tried to complete a sleep study two times and to no avail. Call me crazy, but I find it impossible to sleep with 20 different wires attached to my body. My dad has sleep apnea and he has had some luck with the C-Pap machine.

Ironically enough though not mysteriously.....my weight REALLY ballooned AFTER I started to emerge from my depression. I had no appetite when I was depressed and sometimes literally go days without eating. So if anyone REALLY wants to lose alot of weight.....severe depression just might do the trick for you. I'm kidding of course.....I wouldn't "recommend" severe depression to my worst enemy nor would say they should go without food for days.

:)

Is it possible for people to have hypo/hyper thyroidism even though that particular test would suggest my thyroid functioning is perfectly normal? I'm almost certain it isn't possible...but again....my medical knowledge is limited at best.

I don't know. I know that at least one test is notoriously awful because it actually tests the pituitary. And I know that at least one test is quite good. But don't ask me which is which.

However, if you have hypothyroidism, you probably have a comorbid B-vitamin deficiency. Try brewer's yeast. It could clear up some associated problems.

I'll go look at your test results in a sec and try to make heads or tails thereof.

EDIT: Sorry. Can't view PDFs at the moment.

Listen to the advice of your Doctor but my bottom dollar says that if you can drop that extra 50 lbs, your labs will be healthy again. Expect it to take about 1-2 years but you can do it if you are dillegent.

It shouldn't really even take me a year. I lose weight pretty quick if I eat right and exercise. Right now i'm somewhere in the 180's. This is not as heavy as i've ever been in my life. A few years ago when my ex and I were still together, I was pushing 200lbs and i'm only 5' 6". Several years after that in May of 09' I was 140lbs or less. I started sinking into a severe depression around that time and while I wasn't eating very much, I stopped exercising completely. My weight started to gradually increase and when I started to emerge out of the depression about six months ago, I started to eat alot again and I STILL wasn't exercising. So here I am at 180 or so and basically, if I lose forty pounds, i'll be in reasonably good shape strictly in terms of my weight at least.
