The the whole news satire thing is a bit pointless (no one will better Chris Morris), I thought that that was pretty funny.

Sorry OP but I have to agree with the rest of the posters. This was funny. We have to learn to laugh at ourselves sometimes and this is a good way to do that.

That was awwwtastic. I think I'll watch it again.

Seriously, the Onion should do more stories with this guy.

I've felt nothing but insulted, rwading their stories and articles. Their articles give Auti$m $peaks fule for their fire. I don't like The Onion for that reason. Of course I'm just a sensitive brown-eyed Cockney, so what do I know?

The Onion does not consider it a good day unless someone is insulted.

I think most people offended will be parents of autistic children. I heard a bunch of them complain and then watched the video.
I may have been drinking at the time but I thought it was hilarious. And later on in bed I was still laughing about it. I hate really stereotypical and deliberately cruel humor but I think this was done in a really clever way.
I really wish people would stop saying Rain Man is not autistic because I'm pretty much like Rain man. My friend even quotes it to me and I laugh because I sound just like that.
If I see a lot of truth in a joke then it's funny to me.

It's the Onion. I can't be insulted at that.

Well, pensieve, I'm sorry, but the person the character of Rain Man was based on, Kim Peeks, is not autistic - he has organic brain damage. Doesn't mean you can't show some of the same behaviors, just means that Dustin Hoffman knows jack about neuropsychology.

As for the Onion, as noted above, sure they make fun of autistics. They make fun of sports fans, people who hate sports, politicians, voters, nonvoters, pet owners, pets, people who don't have pets, lonely people, married people, astronauts, janitors, and anybody else I haven't listed here. If you're into astrology, their horoscope will mock you personally. In short, they really do make fun of everybody, including (especially?) themselves. If you take it personally, you are indeed far too sensitive.

Networks cleverly use humour for conditioning and desensitisation of controversy, manipulation and social control

Don't blame Dustin Hoffman for that, it wasn't his decision.

Wait, The Onion tries to insult people? Is that their whole point in being funny and making fun of everything?

He was based on more than Kim Peek and I know that Kim Peek wasn't autistic. I forget his name but the other man was autistic. Fact is he was meant to be autistic in the film.
And Dustin Hoffman is just an actor not the writer or director.
