When I am in the middle of a mini meltdown, people ask me if I am OK sometimes. It's kind of a long story, but once when I was at a train station, this attendant asked if I was OK because I was having a mini meltdown. I said I was and he said "don't tell me you're OK".

And yet when cash register people, etc. ask how you're doing, all they want to hear is "okay" or "fine"!

hah, people tell me not to think too much about things, but they might as well tell me to stop breathing.

Yeah this happens to me. I guess many NTs assume having an expression is only normal if you're talking to someone. My face often reflects my thoughts, unconsciously.

How do you know if your face is reflecting your thoughts unconsciously? I'm not sure if I do that or not. I know that sometimes I'll, say, smile or laugh at something I'm thinking about though. But is that the same thing?

I don't tend to notice myself it has to be pointed out. My girlfriend frequently asks me whats on my mind or why I look mad or happy so I assume it happens frequently lol

Sounds like good times! Last fall I was going to my college's football game (which is pretty overwhelming to begin with) and when you go through the student entrance there are cops standing buy. I had just got my wristband when a police officer appeared in front of me and asked me how much I'd had to drink! I was completely taken aback. like, there's a bunch of drunk students coming in, and some of them sneaking drugs in too, and you stop on of the people who never drinks at all? good call. He apparently didn't believe me when I told him that I hadn't had any alcohol.(probably didn't help that I was even more awkward than usual because it was such a weird situation and couldn't even look up at him.) He started asking me how old I was (apparently I look younger than I am), gave me a hard time about my student ID because the picture was kind of faded from me keeping it in my pocket, and kept asking me over and over how much I'd had to drink. Eventually he made me breathe into a breathalizer thing, and I had to try it a couple times because I didn't understand how to use it. So he had to reluctantly believe me after that....

First time anyone's ever insisted that I was drunk.

I think "I was okay until you asked me that."

Exactly!

Sometimes I talk or whisper to myself while out in public and then I see someone's head turn and I get embarrassed because they probably think I'm insane. But strangers never seem to notice there's something wrong with me unless of course I'm having a meltdown or slip and fall down and have trouble getting up. I guess people just mind their own business more where I live. :)

Sometimes I start reciting the Walrus and the Carpenter poem under my breath to try to distract myself if noises get too overwhelming and such - that probably looks kind of insane.

Yeah. Though, come to think about it, I live in an area where there's a lot of pretty strange looking people walking around that don't elicit comments, so I wonder how odd that means I look.....

One time I was having lunch at Wendy's and the guy at the counter was asking me why I looked so sad. I wasn't even sad at all but immediately after that I was pretty damn offended.

Its happened occasionally, but usually I just get weird looks.......like when I talk to myself, people must think it a bit odd. Or another thing that gets me weird looks is when I am walking somewhere and I suddenly decide I want to go the opposite way...not weird on its own but I tend to just stop mid step, and just kinda stand there all confused/spaced out like for a a couple seconds or longer before I start walking the other way. Its like I make the decision to walk a different way and then my brain has to process the quick decision before I actually act on it.

In general, no. It actually happened to me once, and I thought it was strange. So I tried the same thing on someone else who looked sad. I got the strangest look. I never tried that again.

lol Yes I have had this over my whole Life. Even just last week some random stranger goes "stop being so SERIOUS". I was like "huh?". And yes, when people say "cheer up, it's not that bad" and you feel like saying "actually, I was just fine until you said that!" (I think i did say that once come to think of it lol)

This same thing happend to me when this semester of classes started at college. On the first day in English Comp. the proffessor put me into a group to discuss some topic. All I remember is the other people in my group asking me if I was okay over and over again. each time I said yes but they continued to ask. I did not slam my fist on the table but I did tell them that it was getting annoying.

That happens to me when I get blood drawn. For some reason, they act like I'm about to pass out or something.
