I drink a lot of Pepsi Max or Diet Coke, and while it makes me more *aware*, it also seems to calm me down and relax me a lot. Coffee very very rarely has the usual effect on me, sometimes I even fall asleep if I drink coffee during lunch break :(

I don't handle caffeine well. I often become hyperactive when I consume too much of it, and I almost always become very cranky and snappish.

I'm a Coke addict....Coca Cola that is.

I can easily down at least one liter a day. And it can't be a Fanta, Dr Pepper, Diet anything or Sprite. It has to be Coke Classic. I think my body's built up quite a tolerance for caffiene after all these years of drinking it so much. I can even drink it right before bed and not have any problems sleeping.

Since I don't feel different when I do drink it, I think the appeal for me is its flavor and the funny sensation of the bicarbonate soda in my mouth.

I had the same Coke addiction but it more like a 2 liter a day habit. I have cut way
back on soda.

Anyone take ephedra with caffine and an anti-coagulant? Notice any differences between present pharmaceutical grade extract and the banned Ma Huang herbal equivelancy? :(

I definitely drink too much coffee. Ah but i love it!

I read that it has an anti-depression effect on the brain.
Don't know what it does for aspergers, but i know it give me energy, helps me focus and perks me up. I can only drink 1 cup at a time and space it out over the day up to 3 or 4 cups. Otherwise, i get a stomachache, headache and feel really hyper.

Once i tried to stop drinking coffee and had the worse withdrawal symptom. An unbearable headache, tiredness and confusion. I'll never try that ever again urgh :x

No, caffene doesn't have adverse effect on me. It doesn't make me mean or crazy.

I almost never drink sodas but I drink coffee from 7am till 5p and drink two or three bottles or cups of tea daily.
I do not normally have issues with caffine unless I gulp the coffee one cup after another.

I stopped drinking anything but decaf about 6 months ago. I really like coffee but I have problems with blood sugar and it raises blood sugar levels much too fast making me get the shakes. And it's bad for my joints, a problem i inhereted from my mum.

ok on a lighter note... its not true aspies consume high volumes of caffeine
and it is not true that it helps ADHD. So please.

This is inaccurate. Many people with ADHD (the combined or hyperactive-impulsive type) self-medicate with caffeine, nicotine, or other stimulants. It has similar neurochemical properties to the active drug in Ritalin.

I met one person who seemed like an obvious case of someone with Asperger's syndrome who drank tons of Diet Dr. Pepper for the caffeine kick.

As for me, I try to avoid drinking it because it keeps me awake when I'm trying to fall asleep.

Caffeine is really somthing I avoid - otherwise things that cause me stress can lead to nightime panic attacks. However have always LOVED cola - just have the caffeineless variety nowadays!

I used to drink several cans of Mr. Pibb a day when I was growing up. I never had problems sleeping because I always made sure that I never drank any after 4pm. It's safe to say that I eventually weened myself off the stuff while attending college. A weird thing about this is that I never really noticed my problems with depression and AS until I cut myself off from caffeine. But none of it really mattered since I've always been a loner whether I was on or off the stuff.

Oh, after five years of being off caffeine, I am now back on the wagon due to my new job (asst. network admin)
