I really appreciate your response and a lot of them make sense. But most of them aren't much use while I'm at work. Probably the best approach is to try an avoid things that invoke such an intense reaction.

I'm sorry we all couldn't provide better advice and I really hope you discover something that works for you. It's trial and error. Unless you're Ricky from the Trailer Park Boys. Then it's "denial and error". :?

I'm not at all ungrateful. In fact some of the things suggested done outside of work may increase my tolerance while at work.

Maybe some of the ones that you think might work for you (that don't take big chunks of time or need a lot of privacy) you could do in a very small short dose between productivity cycles. Like if you have coffee breaks* you could maybe use some things from this thread you think might help there and see if that helps tide you over until the next coffee break.

*I actually have no idea how frequent coffee breaks are in most countries, here they seem to happen frequently enough I find it odd anything gets done, but of course it varies with the type of work. Builders don't take nearly as many breaks as office workers for example and cubicle workers not as many as the true office workers it seems - and I have no idea what your work is like or how understanding your workplace is of doing something other than discussing reality TV shows on coffee breaks.

(There's a lot going on here but the snowman is pretty nice.)

(I think the water droplets are really cool but the sun is still too bright even with their filter. I can feel the brightness in my eyes for some time afterward. But I still like the idea of light reflecting off of slow motion water droplets. I just found this one for this post.).

Sorry for the sun one above. It bothers me and it stays in my eyes for a long time actually, even though I do like water droplets, a lot.

Here's some water droplets in light but not the sun in your face.

And the most calming~

I think I may be the only here who's into this stuff. But I think it can be very calming.
