273 WPM 10/11 questions correct

I know I'm not a very quick reader, I find I have to reread things several times before they sink in. I've never understood why you would want to read quickly anyway, I spend a lot of time on my own so plodding slowly through a book is ideal for me.

8/11 correct. Comprehension 73%. 221 wpm.

How many people actually read back over text though and their mind wandered off? Some of the answers were merely guesses because I just forgot what I read.

229 9/11. Not really surprising to me.

Intuitive, "gut feeling" guesses, might I add, due to the unconscious.

Was I the only one who got messed up by Q7 (the race car driver one)?

I got so tied up with the wording of the question, that I couldn't figure out what they were asking in the context of the passage. After I finished the quiz, it suddenly dawned on me.

It still hasn't dawned on me. I just guessed (and got it wrong).

Do you remember what your reading speed was before you took the course?

I'm a very slow reader for the amount that I read and for being hyperlexic as a child. This is due to my OCD. I read extra slowly, because, if I don't understand one part, I will have to re-read the sentence/paragraph again. I'm also slowed due to my "thinking in pictures," because every part creates an image. But I have a very good memory of what I read (and photographic memory of where the information is in the book), so I don't mind sacrificing speed for retention.

I literally have the exact same problem. I never thought anyone else was like that. This is so cool.

274

10/11

I have trouble scanning. I tend to go over the same words multiple times darting forwards and back. This gets really bad when I am covering new material that requires some serious processing (like a college text book)

You read at 1136 words per minute.

Write down or remember your reading speed. Now answer some questions about the previous text to perform your comprehension test.

If you really think it is impossible to do better, that is, to both read faster and improve your reading comprehension, then redo the speed reading test.

Your comprehension is 100%.

You got 11 correct answers out of 11 .

I got the subsidiary question wrong. =[
