I was on clonazepam for 8 years. It helped with anxiety issues but eventual tolerance and steadily increasing doses led to over-use/abuse but if you can use it only as-needed and not too often, I think it's a good drug for some anxiety-sufferers. Now I'm on Lexapro. It feels like I'm taking jelly-beans but it doesn't tire me out like clonazepam. Clonazepam worked better but it made feel kinda sleepy and tired.

As a recovering alcoholic, I can't have any meds that could lead to cross addiction. I take Buspar for anxiety and it works quite well.

Yeah, people shouldn't take it every day in my opinion. All I know is when I have meltdowns having a benzo is all that I want. Something that releases GABA.

I hate alcohol, it's a dirty drug that releases serotonin, dopamine, GABA.... it's a totally dirty drug that I don't enjoy but I don't know what else releases GABA that I can get my hands on currently. America's healthcare system is crap.

I feel like I know what's best for me and I need some xanax for when I have meltdowns. I'd rather be zonked out or taking a nap for a few hours than pacing in a circle, stimming, and obsessing. Going to college was the worst decision I could have made, paying back my student loan causes me more stress than I can handle (and I can't discharge it).

Basically benzos are good for short term anxiety treatment. Longterm you need other types of medication + THERAPY. I cannot stress therapy enough. You have to work through your anxiety by talking it out.
