I don't take anything because I feel I don't need any pills. Why take pills for something that doesn't happen often? My husband thinks I should be on it but it's the easy way out and he wants things to be easier is why. It's just like parents wanting their children drugged so they be mini adults and their jobs as parents be so much easier.

But I am not against pills.

I won't take medication because I don't think anything can help my autism. It is there, I was born that way, and that is that. Prior to my diagnosis (even before my self-diagnosis) I took medication because the doctors thought I was depressed and anxious. The medication did nothing but make it hard to come off again, so once I weaned off them, I was done forever.

Agreed, it's "may". I would probably benefit from something for anxiety and depression but I don't feel comfortable discussing these issues with even a doctor. I tend to apply Fight Club rules to autism

For me at least, medication was not the way, i've covered my experiences with SSRI's in particular on here before annd wont repeat them except to say i'd never experienced that level of suicidal thoughts before or since taking them, and i came close to following through a year or so back when was on them. I now am back to doing reality 24/7, its not great but its better than my personality and mood doing a 180 degree shift and wanting to kill myself.

I advise people to make sure they have a good doctor and manitain contact with them especially when you're first trialling any drug that affects your brain.

Yeah, I don't need medication for autism. I do take medication for depression and ADHD, because for those, medication is actually useful. For autism? Nope.

What about "no, because it doesn't do anything"? If we're talking about autism anyway, nothing anyone has given me has ever helped with that.

I know what you mean. I was diagnosed with depression and AS at the same time and it caused some serious confusion for me as to why I needed the antidepressants. I now know that my depression is being caused by my having AS. No matter what medication I take, it's not gonna cure the depression so long as I still have AS.

Yay for depression, nay for autism.

Zoloft and Strattera for depression and ADD. They haven't magically fixed my social confusion but they do make me feel a little better and not so overwhelmed.
