My thoughts exactly.

I think swbluto is taking the piss to prove he doesn't have AS.

I could be wrong.

Ironically, it seems Moog is winning it! lol

Popularity is defined by the status of being well liked by a number of people. The "contest" part is metaphorical for those who post with the intent of becoming more "well known" and/or "liked", and by making humorous statements or echoing popular sentiments(), one is engaging in it, even if involuntarily.

I'll agree "the contest" is not nearly as obvious nor cut-throat as on other sites (Like Facebook.).

I don't know what I am, but I'm definitely not NT. I suppose I am fairly well thought of.

I don't think popularity is a problem. I don't think being NT is a problem. If I or someone was using popularity to get away with making WP a worse place, then maybe there'd be reason for complaint.

If you want to know how NTs really get treated on WP, you want to actually ask some of them. It's not always nice.

?

You may be over-thinking this a bit. Agreeing in one thread hardly proves popularity or a contest for such a status.

Some of us are just too sarcastic for our own good, and some of us have nothing better to do than waste our time here on WP.

Popularity contests never interested me, but the dynamics involved have caught my attention as of late. What I'm wondering is why you're so intent on proving you don't have AS. You do realize you're doing it in a very Aspie way, right?

:/

I am? I just thought it was an ironic sentiment that someone with AS remarked on, and thought it might be interesting to poll what other people thought and I thought maybe others had noticed something similar. Of course, the person who remarked on it may just have been disappointed by their own unpopularity and unfairly generalized that to the AS population.

I was trying to make a joke, but perhaps I didn't phrase it properly.

I mean, I do think you spend a lot of time saying you don't have AS, which is good, I guess. Having an idea of where your problems lie or do not lie is a good thing. I think it's kind of weird you keep trying to extend that to other people, but at least you don't name names.

Like TeaEarlGreyHot said, some of us have too much time to spend hanging around here.

But over many threads, of which I have good memory of, it does. ;) (And, really, how would one become a moderator if they weren't popular? It's entirely logically compatible.)

LOL! What's with everyone trying to prove I'm an aspie? I suppose I could just be a self-denying aspergers person and everyone is trying to sincerely help me out in pointing out the obvious, but I'm getting the feeling that it's really the "contrarian sentiment" that's at work here with me trying to prove that I don't have it. When other people are involved, it seems I'm usually good at getting people to do the opposite of my intention.

Personally, I think everybody wants me to stay on the forums, so everybody is trying to convince me that I fit in! (I should probably stop flattering myself, lol.)

Well, I was speaking of me agreeing with Moog, since I've recently been told I'm 'popular'.

I was pointing out the Aspieness of your comments specifically because I was curious why you seem so emphatic about not having Aspergers. It seem kind of obvious to me you at least have strong traits. In either case, you do seem to fit in here so your Aspieness is really a moot point.

The ones who seem to be "winning" are the ones with the best social skills, just like in real life, lol.

I wouldn't say that. CR is rather popular.
