Some people are just jerks. Somebody dropped a heavy box on the floor at work one day and i screamed, jumped and covered my ears. The girl who dropped the box is very nice, and she apologised for scaring me, but the other kids in her department, who I didn't know, all looked at me strangely, like they though I was really weird. I try not to let it bother me.
