Yes, I tried to take the facial expression test but had to quit because I couldn't handle all of the pictures of peoples faces.

I also didn't finish that facial expression test because I didn't want to look at the faces. Also, I don't know what that test is measuring. It is multiple choice, and I certainly don't have access to the choices to play process of elimination in real life.

I've taken it several times - for some reason I can take disembodied eyes.

Not always, but I do sometimes find photos in which the person is looking intently at the camera to be disquieting, as if they could see me. I also find it hard to look characters on TV in the eye, and when I try to do it I find that it's much harder for me to follow the dialogue.

For some reason it frightens me to see pictures of fellow users in forums that I post in. But most of all, when I look at a picture of someone looking right at the camera, I feel like they are literally staring at me. It feels no different than having a real person in front of me.

(Funnily enough, faces are one of my minor interests, so much that I can tell differences between lookalikes and wonder why people think they look so similar in the first place. It really helps if they aren't making "eye contact.")

I did used to have this reaction, but I have learned to work around it. Eye contact is still difficult for me, but pictures are now just pictures.

I can usually handle pictures, but that picture of the woman is too intense. Can't do it.

When I was younger I did feel scared when someone on a video looked at me straight on. I would look down and couldn't handle staring at them face to face, even though they were in video, not in person.

Yeah, I've been waffling about posting it here for the past six months. On some level, I am kind of glad that I am not the only one who has this problem with it.

Whoa... just clicked on the link, that was somewhat disturbing.

Back in December, I showed it to NT friends, and they praised it and did not find it disturbing.

The camera is too close in that picture. It gives the effect of being right in front of the person. It is a bit disconcerting. You can tell the camera is too close by how large her nose is. When you back the camera off and zoom in instead, it flattens the picture and makes it less intense.

I get the impression that was the photographer's intent.

But yeah, this probably has a lot to do with how intense it is.

Yeah it was probably for artistic effect. Maybe I got a little too excited about talking about... That stuff used to be a bit of a "special interest" a while back...

No, it's cool. I liked that you said it, because I did not know. :)

no. i actually like looking at pictures better than real people because i can stare and study them as much as i want and not actualy have to look at the person, have them look at me or worry about modulating eye contact. its less threatening.

Yes, that picture is disturbing, I can't stand her look for more than a couple of seconds.

I hope my avatar's look isn't disturbing, I chose a picture in which I didn't look in the camera.

If it tells about myself something, I don't have a single picture of someone at home. No mother, no sister, no one. All pictures hanging on the walls of my apartment are landscape photographs taken by myself about 10 years ago. Currently I'm reading John Elder's Look Me In The Eye, I can't stand putting down the book with the kid's picture up...

sometimes.

there are some pictures of faces here that i perceive as unpleasant... sometimes even worse... but most pictures are fine, and many are even really nice to look at.

it is mostly pictures of male faces i have these problems with, but not all males.

Oh, I forgot the most fitting answer to the topic's question. There was a painted picture portraying a sick-looking young lady that hung above the beds in my ex-girlfriend's bedroom. I was so frightened of the lady's look I talked to her and literally begged her to leave me alone in peace... I must have felt guilty about something.
