Dinosaurs were by far my biggest special interest to date. From when I was about 8 - 10 years old, my life revolved around dinosaurs and paleontology. I really wished I'd kept up with the interest, but it was sort of eventually bullied out of me in school. I still regret not pursuing it even further, I've tried many times to re-kindle my interest, but the right factors just aren't there anymore. I still love them though, and they'll always have so much meaning to me.

As for why I loved them so much? Maybe it was to do with the wonder that these creatures actually walked the earth, and the evidence is still all around us today. It's just fascinating that these strange animals were so unlike most that are around today. Almost like real life 'monsters' perhaps? That is certainly appealing to many children, autistic or not. But another reason so many autistic children love dinosaurs so much is the fact that everything to do with paleontology is catagorized and the well of knowledge is simply almost never-ending. So the amount of encyclopedic knowledge that can be gained from learning about dinosaurs will be vast.

i turned 40 in April and have only at the beginning of this year become interested in them, im now collecting books and dvds and watch as many documentaries as i can, my interest in dinosaurs started with Charles Darwin, an amazing man, who has also led me to an interest in fossils.

I was never really into dinosaurs as a child. I was more obsessed with spiders and insects.
