Oooh - and my dentist gave me this gel candle thing when I had two root canals that has his phone number on it and you click the sides together to close it and press the top in to open it - so it makes this wonderful clicking noise twice - sort of like the top of a jar of baby food . . .

I have a green squishy, spiky ball. It smells like citrus! :D

Tangle Jr.

I just ordered it from Amazon the other day (last one in stock too). I bought it because I always have to be doing something with my hands. It comes in different varieties too, like "textured" and "fuzzy", but for now I ordered a regular one to see how I'll like it.

A few people have mentioned that they destroyed Tangle (Jr) toys...

You do know, I hope, that you can click them back together if the curve pieces seperate. I'm not sure how else you can destroy one. I've got a textured one, a translucent one, a normal one, a glow-in-the-dark bit of one (came as part of the textured one as a 'DNA' type theme) and a fuzzy one. I pull them apart on purpose and sort them into colours and types. Sometimes they become a bit loose and come apart more easily than before, but generally I've found it impossible to destroy them. I messed up a fuzzy one by putting it in my bottle of water, the fuzz disintergrated.

Toys, including fiddle toys (or stim toys or fidget toys, whatever name we give them) are my raging, long-lasting special interest and have been for years.

Other fiddle toys:

'Haba' brand baby toys, sometimes you can get a block-colour wooden object, that doesn't look entirely babyish (no faces or animals etc). I desire these very much. I own a few. Here's a link to my favourite: http://www.amazon.com/Haba-1296-Trix-Toy/dp/B00000J4XU

I also go to the local toy shops and look at the small toys and find a few bits. I have 'catapillar' toys, which are small wooden cubes attached in a line with strong, tight elastic but they can bend into different shapes.

And a Koosh ball. Also I was given a pen-top fiddle toy, wallace and gromit branded. Link: http://www.shopwiki.co.uk/_Wallace+and+ ... =365243530

I generally dislike the rubbery toys, because they make my hands smell of rubbery stuff and feel slightly greasy or sticky - something I general dislike -I wash my hands frequently.

At the moment I like my Toy Story 3 'Chunk' mini figure, with a face that spins.

I knit so I used a coaster that I knitted as my 'stim cloth' and I keep it in my purse. I use it when things are getting stressful & I need something to do with my hands. I'm thinking about buying some softer yarn & making another one, but sometimes I don't mind the coarser texture of this one :) And as I work in a group home, sometimes I'll use one of my client's sensory toys (like toys from the infant/toddler section of the store), by showing it to her & telling her what it does, but it helps me too :)

Ah, thank you for your input! I had a feeling they could click back together, but I wasn't entirely sure. I'm happy to know that they can't be destroyed! :)

Giant round polished stones. Remind me a bit of the marbles you find in chinese gift stores that are intended to be paired and rollled in the hand to a> work the hand muscles and coordinatiion b> achieve relaxation O.o

I got these things at the local dollar store - they weigh a lot more than the 'decorative gift' ones and don't have the silly bells inside or ying-yang symbols. They're also easier to slip into a pocket than a tennis ball, and while you don't have the bouncability (this might be a good thing, socially) they do havve weight and a feeling of persistence - and if you find the right ones, or drop them against cement a few times, you also have texture to rub your thumb over while looking like all you're doing is excercising a cramp in your palm

Edit: Can also click them together if you carry two of them. Wonderful "claa-aack-buzz" echo vibration happens. I sometimes get carried away with the clacking though...

My Nintendo Wii is my stim toy. I'm stimming, by using it to post, right now.

Someone just told me about this thing called a NeoCube: http://www.theneocube.com/

It looks like the ultimate stim toy! I want one!

Edit: Ok, just bought one. Kind of expensive, but it just looks too awesome. I got the "cubetastic value pack."

I just looked at the neocube site.
The only thing this toy could possibly do is home-bind me even more than I am.
I'd never play video games or shave ever again.
I would eat simply to keep my neocube fingers alive.
....

I want one.. I want two.. I want to rope one around me. 1027 ftw!
I want to clean out my apartment so I can put it on the floor as a carpet and rub my feet on it.
....

And I thought Rubik's Magic squares was the greatest thing ever invented
(It still is - this thing is just shinier and looks much more tactile)

i draw. I never realized this was stimming until I started taking adderall and had some more self-reflective power. I realized that when ever i'm not drawing (as soon as my hand is lifted from the paper) i'm bouncing a leg (or two), rubbing and squeezing various muscles of my body (mostly in my hands and arms), running fingers along folds in my shirt or pants, contorting my hands in strange ways using my pencil, bouncing my eraser in different ways with my off hand. coreographing complex finger taps on the table. playing with piles of cards and flyers at shop/info counters.

before i started drawing almost constantly, i usually had some kind of little toy in my pocket. often rocks. I had a tiny helicopter for a while. right now I have a toy Rhino that stays at home on my desk.

and on the bus when I can't draw if its too bouncy and can't feel bouncy leg rhythm well because the bus is bouncy, my eyes just go nuts, watching other people, objects inside the bus, and the world flying by outside, and i change sitting positions constantly.

i've become very good at drawing.

I'm always drawing too :D. All my class notes have drawings in the margins - in some classes that were boring, the drawings outnumber the actual notes - I find if I draw, it helps me pay attention better. I like to have pens around too, beyond the drawing and the writing, they're just fun to handle and they don't look out of place at work or in class and keep my hands busy. I have a few Tangles which are just lovely and can keep me entertained for quite a while.
