I used to think my interests were varied, although each comes on with a fervor that can only be described as obsessive. But, one day, as I listed my varied obsessions one after another to a friend who is a remarkably good listener...he comment that they all revolve around a single concept.

I'm obsessed with the human condition.

Biology, Anthropology, Philosophy, Music, Language, Theology, Pschology...those are fairly broad, but I generally focus on smaller sets of data with a unifying theme within those catagories for a time...ussually until I run completely out of source material and exhaust my own capacity of understanding. Then move on to the next all important inquiry.

Limited according to others, but I deem my interests as being of a wide variety. However, nearly all (if not all) have to do with academics, which might be why others don't see my interests as varied.

Very compatible with mine, actually.

Yeah, I can get very obsessed with my special interests to a point where I lose awareness of everything around me.

Right now my interest is the Duke Nukem Forever demo. I've beaten the demo 21 times since I downloaded it June 4th.

number 1......we need to talk....lol. i used to be really obsessed with that to.

sure, lets talk!

I feel people do themselves a disservice by only learning the torah/bible at such a young age through children's stories. There is so much richness to the text when approached as an adult. Whose commentary guides your thoughts? I'll share more after work tomorrow, or if I'm booked, then saturday.

what fascinated you about the human condition and what intrigued you to look into this? Do you remember a trigger or a certain situation that first peaked your interest?

Ditto with the FIFA World Cup and Winter/Summer Olympics. I think about events/games that I can't watch if I'm at work or need to sleep.

yea that bugs the crap out of me - as much as I love the olympics, it is a stressful time for me keeping up on the events that interest me, checking whose leading in the medal count, catching up on the games after work, reading commentary on the athletes lives and their journey - it's a crazy time for me too. Same with the soccer or rugby world cup, or the college football bowls (specifically if any pac-10 teams at the rose bowl or the BCS national championship). I don't really care for basketball (college or pro), NFL, or hockey.
