I've been asked if i'm irish by my boss, co-workers, and costumers. I do have an irish, scottish, french hertitage but i don't really see how they see it. Es most confusing.

Maybe he was genuinely curious about your heritage. I've been asked if I'm Irish (I do look very Irish, dark like yourself).

On the other hand, What was the context of the comment? Had you done something wrong or unusual at work? It could have been a sarcastic way of saying that he was questioning your intelligence. Jokes about Irish people suggest that they are unintelligent (having a lot of Irish ancestors on my dad's side, I don't find them in the least bit funny). Maybe you're unaware of having done anything wrong. If that's the case, your boss should have told you and he was really unprofessional in his treatment of you.

what does an irish person look like...with dark features..what specifics?

Me - high cheekbones, tiny nose, freckles, blue eyes, masses of curls.

My brother in law is born in Ireland and he's fairly typical of the real Irish who are infact dark haired. The red hair and freckles are a result of waves and waves of Vikings.

That's exactly what I think. People who lived on these isles (from the days before the Romans, Vikings, etc) were probably dark haired. When you look at famous people from parts with the most aboriginal Britons (or as close to that as we can get), they are mainly dark, e.g. Catherine Zeta Jones, Tom Jones, Colin Farrell, Sean Connery, Gerard Butler, the guy who plays the Irish cop in CSI NY. Many of the people from the northern parts of Scotland are very dark (hair and skin). My gran's parents were from there and she looked almost Indian. I'm a bit of a mixture, my little nose is most definitely Nordic. Dubliners are often quite fair, but Dublin was a viking stronghold.
