I also keep grudges against people who have done me wrong I can't forgive them.
Sometimes they were people who were nice at first then they turned nasty.

For years and years, I've held grudges against as*holes from high school, friends who had slighted me over the years, and just pricks who had made me feel small or anxious in later life. The older grudges seem to have faded over time, though I'm still carrying a lot of anger in me. My wife has learned to accept that this is just part of me and my Asperger's.

I haven't forgotten the little animals that used to derive pleasure from teasing me. However I have put them in a dark dusty recess of my memory where they belong.

Then there's the tendency to start thinking about one bad incident and have every other bad incident throughout your life come into your mind one after another and a massive picture of yourself of a helpless victim in the face of other peoples' horribleness can form if you're not careful which gets very depressing.

This is my big problem. If it was just one person randomly insulting me it wouldn't be a huge deal but the hundreds of previous times come to mind and then I just wish that I'd disappear.

I do have problems harboring grudges, even against people that I care for, but most of my family is like this.

I dont resent anybody.
If someone hurts me severely, all I do is give them the cold shoulder and pretend they don't exist.

I've been told this is a problem I have as well. I'm not the type to let things go. When someone truly upsets me, I'm still just as upset about whatever they did years later. I'll even relive fights like some Nam flashback and end up pacing and like shadow boxing. Heart rate will go way up, start sweating. The worst is when you start thinking about this stuff when you're trying to go to sleep, keep me up for hours. The trick is just to not let yourself to start thinking about that stuff, just quickly put your mind on something else. I wish I wasn't such an angry and hateful person but there isn't much I can do besides just trying to avoid thinking about it.

I especially hold grudges against friends who have wronged me, because they're supposed to be the last people in the world who would hurt me.

And "fairweather" friends who vanish when things get bad. It teaches me to be fiercely independent.

Or they just grow up.

I hold so many grudges and have a mental file on everybody. If you bring someone up I dislike, I have a really good recollection of all the things they've done that annoyed me.

Most of them are pretty irrelevant now, but there are some I won't let go of.
