I'm also a musician (well not a professional one, but I hope to be)

Aspie traits that help me with music:
I have a very good ear - melody comes naturally to me
Attention to detail
Perfectionism - not giving up until I get it right
I love expressing myself creatively
being obsessed with music means I practice constantly and don't get sick of it

Traits that hinder:
Soicial anxiety and inablity to relate makes it very hard due to the social nature of the music industry
I don't like performing because I can't stand all the attention being on me
Not very good at taking critisism from others about music
hard for me to do 2 things at the same time - ie read music and play
When writing I find it hard to express feelings in words

Points of collaboration. Investigating the creative processes within musical collaborations and the impact of Aspergers Syndrome.

particularly how it relates to me (surprise!) and other control freaks in specific areas of the music industry (composition and music technology / recording and production). I work and study at a conservatorium so the research has implications for teaching and learning in music work and life skills.

At some point I may ask participants in this discussion if they wish to contribute to the research directly under the usual informed consent processes re protection of identity.
