Aside from nearby lightning that can be startling, thunderstorms kick ass. They're one of the few things that make a boring existence living in the middle buttcrack of America tolerable.

It's also kind of inconvenient when trees get blown down all over the place and the electric company can't get around to restoring your power for 4 or 5 days. Of course because I like storms I tended to get blamed for such incidents growing up. I can recall several very widespread derecho wind storms back in the 90s. One in particular that hit at 6:00 PM on a Sunday evening in July of 1991 snapped three trees in my parents yard. I remember looking out the window and seeing all the trees get bent over at the trunk so that their tops were nearly touching the ground. It was a horizontal wall of rain that came through in one gigantic gust for all of 20 seconds.

Or a month...

I'm a big fan of thunder. I think the sound of it is really calming and whenever I hear it I just want to stare at the sky waiting to see another lightning flash. People have told me I'm not supposed to like it that much because of the damage it causes sometimes which doesn't make any sense to me. Then again I love also rain, wind, clouds, snow, sun, moon, stars...

I am one of those people who when they even hear that a storm is coming I want to run and hide away!

I have always been terrified of them.

I love thunderstorms! I love looking at the lightening nature is fascinating sometimes, how electricity can be made in the sky. Makes me think of how insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things. There's also a certain feeling in the air in thunderstorms which I love. :-)

Although saying that it is kind of annoying when you're trying to sleep lol

I have this love-hate relationship with thunderstorms. lol
I absolutely love them when I'm somewhere safe. I can spend hours just siting by the window and watching the power of the nature.
But if I'm forced to be somewhere outside where I don't feel safe I'm so terrified of them that it makes me all panicky. I really hate them then.

I love the sound of rain on the roof but when it blows really hard I get nervous. I also have a terrible fear of lightning. It's one of my recurring nightmares, being struck or chased by lightning blasts.

I love them as long as I don't have to go anywhere and the power stays on.

There is something really comfortable about being home in bad weather.

I absolutely love them! I actually get high watching them, (I assume from all the adreneline I'm generating :o ). But yes, ever since I was little, me and my mum have been watching storms together. Even though we live apart, we still phone each other when a storm's on, just to say how marvellous it is  .

Oh and... I go out and dance in the rain when the mood takes me. I'd prefer to do it naked, but I don't think my neighbours would like that ;). Must be an instinctive getting-back-to-nature thing  .

That's really cute :D

When I was small I was told St. Peter is playing skittles, :D.

I try a more scientific approach with my son:

He loves thunderstorms anyway, or 'monsoon' rain in the summer.
I let him run around on our litttle street in his trunks. Nothing like it - a squealing, jumping, laughing kid and the tarmac on the road steaming from the down pour. Then after a quick warm shower sitting down with a nice warm cup of cocoa and watch the rest of the rain through the window or open door together with the cats, blisssssss ! !!

I find them awe-inspiring. If it's storming outside I will find any excuse I can to stop what I'm doing and leave, I even did it in school sometimes. Oh, fun rainy night story time! At one point it was basically a torrential downpour at night one night, and I took some flowers I had and planted them outside in the rain and I threw a couple of flower petals out there too...yes I'm weird. (I'm a guy by the way)
