I sleep with my window open and always have a spare blanket ready, to get warm or just feel more comfortable (the weight).

Odd thing is I sometimes get my sleeping bag and sleep in that, it feels more enclosed.
Annoying habit is moving in bed. Sometimes I wake up with my head at the foot end v.v.

I still have the habit I can sleep on the floor but the last few years I get a back pain from that on the next day. So I stopped doing that as much as possible.

that sounds very similar to me!! ! when i was younger i also used to get turned completely around. as i got older i staed still a bit more.

I have always had strange sleeping habits. From my earliest memory, I used to rock myself to sleep. I still do occasionally if I have had a stressful day or something, as it tends to relax me and help me fall asleep faster.

I like to sleep with a lot of covers on me. This is a recent habit with me. I used to like to sleep with as few covers as I could and still keep warm.

Sometimes I like to sleep on my side, and sometimes on my back. I cuddle up with a stuffed animal when I sleep on my side, or I will settle for a large pillow in a pinch. Not so when I sleep on my back.

I have slept in the buff since an early age. I am uncomfortable sleeping with any kind of clothing whatsoever, and the more clothing I am wearing, the longer it takes me to fall asleep. I wear a sweatshirt and sweatpants as "pajamas" when I stay at someone else's home, but once the door to my bedroom is closed and I am alone, I take them off.

I like to have a fan blowing on me while I sleep, no matter how cold the room is. This is usually only a preference, and not necessary unless the room is warm. But I cannot sleep without a fan at all if the room I am sleeping in is 77°F (25°C) or warmer.

I used to enjoy swaddling myself in my covers such that I could barely move. Only my face would be visible. This was very comforting for me, and would help me fall asleep almost immediately. Not so anymore.

I still occasionally like to make a tent or "fort" out of my top blankets and sleep inside of the tent. On rare occasions I will clean out my clothes closet and sleep inside it.

That's about all I can think of at the moment. I'm sure I could think of a few more if I took more time with it. - LJS

do you have any strange or odd sleeping habits or behaviours? i was wondering if these kinds of things are relatively common in aspies and auties. perhaps these things are also common with NTs, but i wouldn't really know.

as an adult:

-i like to sleep with a heavy blanket or several blankets (unless it is extremely hot)

-i sometimes immobilise my arms by tucking my hands under the waistband of my pyjamas or pulling my arms out of the sleeves

-i like having someone hold me tightly in a cuddle until i fall asleep (back when i had the option)

-whenever possible i like someone else in the room with me as i feel safer (i often get scared or sad while i am asleep, and i get comfort from someone else's presence)

-i sometimes cuddle with a stuffed animal (used to cuddle my baby like that when she was little too)

as a child:

-used to sleep with the covers over my head

-liked napping in my parent's bed so i could take comfort from their scent

-would sometimes sleep on the floor as i found it comfortable

do you have any odd sleep habits?
.

I like lots of blankets or duvets.
I can curl my hands at the wrist, when sleeping
My aspie ex girlfriend used to sleep on the floor
Before sleep I sometimes put my head under the covers to relax (I think the CO2 makes you drowsy.

When I was a young child I slept under the blankets suffering hypoxia but I survived.

I now sleep on a Tempur mattress with a light duvet, a room temperature of about 10C all year round, plenty of room for me to kick my feet about under the duvet as I don't like my feet tightly bound and three pillows. I prefer to sleep just with a t-shirt and my hands placed under my right cheek [the facial one]. :D

I feel safer sleeping on the floor, often.

I am taking medication now, so my sleep is actually incredibly regular these days.

Pre-medication... I would stay up for days on end, or sometimes go a long period of time having to sleep for 16-20 hours a day. I was always a walker and talker in my sleep as well. I had people record or write down conversations they would have with me because I didn't believe them, and it was pretty hilarious. Most nights I'd lie in bed for 3-4 hours, or more, before I could fall asleep.

Some of my other "odd" habits are sleeping with my pillow beside me, instead of at the head of the bed. I prefer sleeping during the day, than sleeping at night. I also switch rooms throughout the night, or I can't sleep. Some nights I'll sleep in three different beds, or on the couch or floor.

The only way I can sleep is if it is at least 65 in the room and with my warm blanket on. No clue why just can't sleep unless the room is like that.

I won't sleep unless the door is fully closed, in fact, sometimes, I double or even triple check to make sure the door is closed. I worry about the cat coming into my room for some reason. I like the cat but I don't like her in my room at night.

In the winter, I will put layers and layers of clothes on if I am cold.

Not too odd, but a little unusual.

Hmm..
I have done the sleeping bag thing. And the "oops head and feet swap" thing too :P
I can't stand a cold sleep. Either I need lots and lots of blankets and sheets or I need the heat turned up. Medical experts say a cold room = a good sleep. Well ptui on them.

I sometimes purposely tangle the sheets around me so I'm half trapped before I can fall asleep.
I sometimes dump my laundry into the bed and tunnel into or under it to sleep.
I often sleep with covers over my head
I've sometimes NEEDED to sleep on the floor. For no reason other than NEED.
Also:
I've slept in my bed about 10 times in the last 6 months, prefering the couch (protective back? softer surface? warmer location? armrest to push my feet against? I dunno!)

Back when I had the option, I liked to cuddle my lady to sleep...

And don't forget that my sleep patterns are all wacked out and chaotic!

Usually wrap the covers around my neck, but leave my head exposed. My face gets hot under the covers, even though I like the darkness it provides.

I also like to sleep with my legs crossed.

I also sleep with my hair in a ponytail, because I don't like having hair on my face while I'm sleeping.

1) I find regular mattresses uncomfortable, with the springs, and didn't like the way hips leave dents, so I sleep on airbeds.

2) I like to be covered over... I find it hard to sleep with just a sheet as it touches my skin too lightly, so I need heavyish quilts.

3) I always sleep on my right side, legs slightly bent, arms in front of my face.

4) I still have a sort of comfort smell I need to get to sleep well ( my pillowcase unwashed for a period of time, basically)

5) I cannot sleep with someone else next to me. It never worked. I hated the feel of someone else's breath on my skin, and I was just hyper aware of their energy there. No way I could sleep with someone holding me.

6) I am hyper sensitive to light and noise, so I have to block light from the windows and wear earplugs to sleep.

7) I can't wear clothes to bed, as any labels or seams, or waistbands cause me extreme irritability.

OMG i used to curl up in my laundry, no lie. or i dump a basket of warm clothes on top of me straight from the dryer, and snuggle up under them on the bed.

As a child I had to have cushions stuffed down the sides of my bed, I slept in a sleeping bag, and as a very young child before getting to bed my slippers had to be PERFECTLY aligned with each other and with the bed or else I couldn't sleep.

I have to sleep with something covering me. As a child I had heavy wool blankets and had to have them over my head, as an adult I'm getting better at only being partly covered when hot, but still need to feel something up by my head even if not covering the rest of my body.

I can't have anything touching me when trying to sleep, didn't have stuffed toys in bed as a child (tried it, didn't understand it), I like cuddling my boyfriend when we go to bed but when it comes to sleeping I can't have him touching me at all and I always turn away from him. Pain in the backside when the cats try to sleep on me.

I always suck my thumb while I sleep.

I bend my arm backwards on itself...comfortable position for me getting to sleep, far less comfortable upon waking!

Peculiar but all together useful - because of restless leg syndrome I often sleep with bars of soap under my sheets around thigh level and with ice packs attached to the bottom of the bed to help with the symptoms.

I do those, except I can't stand to sleep with clothes on because they feel too binding.* Instead I immobilise my arms by tucking my hands under my butt. And I cuddle pillows instead of stuffed animals.

* I've been dubbed the Princess and the Pea because of this and the fact that I can't stand if there are wrinkles in the sheets or anything besides the sheets under me--and I can't stand sheets which aren't flannel sheets.
