But this is the same reason NT's drink so much.

Alcohol hits the spot for me. I'm not a solitary drinker, I don't get much opportunity to drink now

When I was younger, AS was unheared of and I certainly didn't suspect that I had a syndrome. I did know that I was awkward in social situations unless I had a drink. Even now, a small amount of alcohol eases my inhibitions and I find social conversation, including small talk, easier. I find I can discuss trivia, much as NT's do normally, without getting irritated. Without alcohol my discussions tend to be straight to the point and predominently factual (very boring). :(

Cannabis does make my social anxiety go away completely. My eye contact is also better when I am baked off my ass. I wish they would legalise for medical purposes here in NY State.

If I don't drink too much, I think I can seem pretty normal. Im more relaxed in social situations, and I don't care as much if I mess up. lol
Marijuana on the other hand makes me silent and paranoid. 8O

No. Alcohol has the opposite effect on me and I become more withdrawn and more likely to have a meltdown because of social situations. If I drink I often do it alone. Marijuana, however, loosens me up and gets rid of some of the stress and medication side effects so I can act more "normal". However, because I am a mild case, most Neurotypicals just think I'm quiet/shy until I open my mouth and actually talk.

Alcohol brings out my alcoholic traits....all bad! I can't have "just one". As they say "one is too many and a thousand never enough". So I skip over the NT divide staight to pure insanity. I also can say that alcoholism does not discriminate....even those on the spectrum, if not more, are vulnerable to it's power.

Well, I guess all drunks look pretty much alike. You might look like a "normal drunk", but I do not think that's good.

I don't know that it makes me more normal, but it makes it a bit easier for me to socialise.

Impossible to make an accurate assessment since alcohol impairs judgement and memory.

Alcohol in moderation can help with my social anxieties - it's easier to be chatty and mingle with people when 'well lubricated' but if I drink to excess it worsens other aspects of being an aspie - such as saying something inappropiate, as the alcohol breaks down any inhibitions a bit too well.

No, it generally just makes me more obsessive and argumentative and turns me into an a***hole as well. See drunken posts here to reference.

This is true for me.

Except marijuana makes me silent and paranoid and psychotic/hearing voices.
