I voted for:

I have aspergers and my index finger is about the same length as my ring finger.

My ring finger is slightly longer than my index finger, but the difference is pretty small.

I am male.

I probably have more testosterone than most women, but my index is much longer on both hands.

Someone once told me that really long index fingers are more common with people on the schizo spectrum. I hope I don't have that rather than AS (I'm self-dxed with AS, but people who know me well reckon I'm on the spectrum, too). I have this silly fear that I have latent schizophrenia, even though I most probably do not have any such thing.

ah, I have heard of that connection before. I don't know whether I have schizophrenia but I had symptoms of it such as delusional beliefs in my teens that I was being abducted and stalked by an alien race and if I saw a small plane I was so sure it looked just like a flying saucer. Since then I am completely skeptical about everything. I clearly have asperger's though, and it may have played a role in those delusions. Whenever I used to get obsessed about something, I would get delusional to some degree about it. I was at one time 100% confident that I was going to meet Hilary Duff someday and marry her.

On my right (non-dominant) hand, my index finger is shorter than my ring finger, but on my left (dominant) hand, my index finger is about the same length as my ring finger.

Can I vote twice?

Not sure if I should vote as my index finger on both hands is bent inward. If I straighten it it looks longer but if I leave it it looks shorter.
HFA, female.

Did you vote? I would go with how long it is without the bend since I am pretty sure that is what they look for (length in bones)--the length of the bone itself would be the same with or without the bend.

I just read about this, and it made me curious because I've been looking for some kind of diagnostic metric that I could actually see for myself and wasn't just some ignoramus's opinion. My ring and index fingers are about the same length, and since I'm male, that actually makes my ratio below average. But like palmistry, it wouldn't surprise me if this is all a crock anyway. Although if there's anything to this, it might support speculation that Beethoven was on the spectrum, although I've also read that musical geniuses also tend to have unusually long ring fingers.

That's Chopin on the left, and Beethoven on the right.

Male, index finger shorter than ring finger, Aspergers diagnosis.

It could be debated that the ring finger on my left hand is about the same length as my index finger, though. It is just barely longer. Bear in mind, that same ring finger was crushed under a rock when I was 11.

Digit ratios by ethnicity According to this website there are more differences in digit ratio between different ethnic groups than there are between men and women. On one end of the spectrum Polish and Spanish men appear quite NT while Finnish and Jamaican men are right around the autistic average. This theory is clearly BOGUS! There should be an incredibly disproportionate amount of autistic people of Finnish and Jamaican decent; as far as I know this is not the case. Also, if there was a correlation between low digit ratio and autism/aspergers then men with autism/aspergers should also be more athletic, more dominant and assertive, etc... It seems like the opposite is true; people with autism/aspergers are more susceptible to hypotonia/clumsiness, are more passive/quiet/listeners, and can be the victims of bullying.

This is really weird, but my ring finger on my left hand is longer and my index finger on my right hand is longer. I also have hitchhiker thumbs. I have AS, but currently undiagnosed professionally.

I'm in the process of getting assessed for Aspergers, I'm female.

My ratios are as follows:

Left hand:

Index finger: 71 mm
Ring finger: 75 mm

Right hand:

Index finger: 69 mm
Ring finger: 73 mm

Giving me a 0.94 ratio on both hands.

I voted that my ring finger was longer however it's only on my left hand. I don't think this can be done right without a ruler.

left index: 60mm
left ring: 65mm

right index: 62mm
right ring: 63mm

This is news to me. I always thought it's a boy/girl difference. I checked everybody's hands in my family. So far all the women/girls have longer index finger and all the men/boys have longer ring fingers. :) Oh and 4 of us are aspies and the rest (5 of them) are NT.

*My index fingers are not only long, they're also strong and thicker than my thumbs. They're my "power fingers". :) I'm a woman.

Here's another ''physical trait of Autism'' that I don't present (I'm starting to wonder if I'm really on the spectrum or not?)

My third finger is the longest. Does that mean I'm NT?

My family are all NTs and I looked at their fingers and their third finger are longer than all their other fingers, like mine are. Their pointing finger (I think is the index finger) is second longest, like mine is.

My ring finger on both hands is about 4 or 5mm longer than my index finger. My daughter's ring fingers are noticeably longer than her index fingers too (moreso than mine). She has been saying for a few years that she has boy hands. She has never been able to explain what she's talking about. I wonder if she has subconsciously noticed this.
