I HATE wearing shoes and would go barefoot all the time if I could :D So I tend to wear flip flops outside. I wear shorts all the time too (even when its cold out) since I think it looks better with barefeet and I prefer them to jeans/trousers

Yeeeeup. I have very thick feet. I wear running shoes for short periods and when I'm playing drums, other than that it's either barefoot/socks or work boots (must be steel toe). Sandals aren't too bad either.

I've had trouble keeping shoes on my feet for most of my life. Not sure if it's a sensory issue or just me, though.

I know that others have said that shoes appear to be made for people with high arches and are no go good for flat feet. But, I have a very high arch and I have major problems getting shoes. It's physically impossible for me to get my feet into many styles of shoe or boot. I have little feet, so shoe size is not the issue. And I can't wear ballet pumps (basically anything that isn't secured onto my foot), otherwise I just walk right out of them. I have one pair of shoes that I find comfortable (Skechers walking shoe). Instead of the usual high heels for going out/ wearing with a dress/skirt, I have a pair of Victorian style lace-up ankle boots, with a 2 inch heel. They have a zip on the inside, so I can get my foot in with ease. I have 2 pairs of flat Mary Janes with straps, for the summer, which allow for my arch. I definitely cannot wear 'normal' high heels, not even a small heel. Apart from the structure of my feet, the other issue I have is sensory, so sandals, with their many irritating parts, are counted out right away. My daughter is exactly the same (on both accounts). She has 2 pairs of trainers, school shoes, wellies and a pair of dressy shoes. Shoe shopping is a nightmare for both of us.

The only type of shoe I can wear comfortable is Vans slip-ons. I've worn the same style for the last 14 years. Unfortunately, I have a new boss at work who didn't like my shoes (they are black/grey checkerboard), and wrote me up for wearing them. I wear an 'approved' shoe type to work now, but I can't stand on my feet for more than two hours (I could usually stand my whole shift with my Vans) without being in pain, and although I haven't been to a doctor for this issue yet, one of my ankles has been in severe pain for the last month, without any known injury. I'm convinced it's the shoes. :?

P.S. I love socks, too. I do not go barefoot, but take any shoes off as soon as I can.

I hate shoes all together.i think they make my feet feel trspped. I used to get in trouble for running around school in my socks or barefoot. I often loose my shoes. I walk around my neighborhood barefoot. But i hate sandals or flipflops. I dont like the strappes on them.

I seem to get blisters from trainers. I often wear trainers, but when I first get a pair I always get big blisters on my heels and both my little toes and I even end up with a little bruise on one of my feet, right on the bone near my little toe. I will never know why.

And it's funny - when I wear sandals the blisters aren't half as sore and they heal up within a couple of days.

Weird!

I hate socks and dislike most shoes. I wear sandals as often as possible, clogs when it gets cold, and I'll switch to boots if there's enough snow on the ground.

I also used to run around barefoot all the time and hated sandals until my mom got me some birkenstocks. Now I'm in love with sandals.

The only type of shoe I like are the cheap sandals that have Velcro straps securing them in place. I tried wearing normal sandals but they always end up falling off, unless I end up falling flat on my face.
I have to wear closed-toe shoes one day per week because of a lab class I have to take, and all I think about all day is how tight and heavy and warm and sweaty my shoes are.

I much prefer the feel of not having shoes of socks on, however becuase of feel problems I need to spend most of my time in shoes. I wear good running shoes as they are light, flexible and do not get hot. My favourite shoes are ones that were heat shrinked onto my feet, so they fit my feet perfectly and they have micro metal fibres in the material to prevent my foot moving about in the shoe.

The comfort of shoes is VERY important to me. As I am getting older, I am starting to have problems with my feet so I have to have a wide "toe box" in my shoes. Because of this, I cannot wear any shoe that goes to a point at the toes (most high heels) and anything narrow. Typically, if I find a shoe that works, I will buy a "back up" pair and if I can, in different colors. I have even discovered that I have to wear certain types of socks with certain shoes in order for them to feel good. I cannot stand to wear shoes without socks unless they are sandals and then the sandals have to be secured tightly on my feet so they don't slip around. I CANNOT stand flip flops. Can't stand the feel of the thong between my toes and the sound they make. Don't think they look very professional either at the workplace. Once, I had a co-worker that LOVED flip flops and kept telling me that I just need to "get used to them". She then went out and bought me two pairs! I didn't have the heart to decline them so I tried to "get used to them" and died every time I tried to wear them. After we stopped working together, I donated them. I just couldn't do it!

You know how you shake your arm in a panic when you suddenly realize there's a bug crawling on your skin?
That's how I feel when I wear shoes.

The biggest problem is that I don't feel the ground beneath my feet. So I try my best to wear thin socks and buy shoes that let me feel the ground when I walk. I feel clumsy otherwise.

I walk barefoot whenever I can.
Crocks work as long as they are well fitting.
I remember having some moccasins which felt great, but I don't remember what type..
I plan on buying different types of barefoot shoes (like Vibrams) appropriate for different situations, whenever I can afford them.

I like only crocs, 'open' shoes and slippers. I can wear other shoes, but they're only of the reasons I dislike stepping out, they do bother me... But to be honest, I had that discomfort forced on me all my life.

Yeah, I can relate. I refuse to put those little custom doggie shoes on my dogs because I want to do the "shake 'em off" dance when I have to wear real shoes.
Having crooked, Sasquatch-sized feet doesn't help in the slightest, either.
