There's no calculator for this? How dare they make me write things down and do math in my head.

I did it like this:

Heading: PT / FS / EC / PD

And under each I made columns for + and -

And once I was done, I assigned values, added them up, and wrote the scores. Was fast and easy once it was laid out properly.

I don't need to take it to know I'm way above average for PD and fantasy, and below for the other two.

Augh, if only I was at the university, I'd run these stats through SPSS and see if they're significant. Oh well, do it sometime later. (If I remember to.)

Anyway, my scores:

Fantasy: 25
Empathic concern: 19
Perspective taking: 12
Personal distress: 25

Really high on fantasy (I'm an aspiring author, so that doesn't surprise me) and personal distress (I am not at all good in a crisis - either I freeze or have a meltdown). Perspective-taking is much lower than average, empathic concern slightly so (normal for a guy). All my scores are higher than the WP average except for empathic concern.

Perspective-taking's an interesting one. Obviously being autistic makes it a lot harder for me to take someone else's perspective, but I think I make a lot more effort to understand others than most people do (and not in the 'compensating for disability' sense). For example, I refuse to allow myself to write a story with an aesop unless I can understand the other side well enough to write them sympathetically - that's why I haven't managed to write several of the disability rights issues that most upset me, such as mercy killing.

Hmm. My personal distress is pretty low.

Anyone else have a hard time scoring this? It took forever for me!

I had the worst time until I did what I described earlier in the thread.

If I had a working phone, I'd post a picture.

I think it's interesting that the fantasy scores are all over the map from very low to very high.

Some of these questions don't seem to be well written. There aren't multiple "sides" to a question, although there may be multiple "right" answers. I believe I can "see" other sides to an argument, but it rarely convinces me that I might not be right, it just means there's more I have to debunk/rebut. Does that mean I "see" those other sides or not, for the purposes of the questions? What's an "emergency situation"? One where someone's life is in danger? I don't think I've been in one. What if I am relatively unaffected by other people's plight on a personal level but am affected on a systemic level (eg: "we really should do something about that starving girl I saw on the news" vs "we really should do something about drought-related poverty")?

These are interesting. Glad to see I'm dragging down the average for Perspective Taking
