I joined WP as parent of a child with suspected AS. But, after lots of reading and on-line tests, I've come to the conclusion that my daughter's traits come mainly from me. It certainly explains it all anyway.

My mum also agrees that she has traits and she, like me, suffers with anxiety. Her sister was diagnosed as bipolar, but I think there's AS there too, or maybe a misdiagnosis. My mum's mum also had traits and depressive tendencies and was a very strange lady (don't mean to offend anyone with this statement). There's also a question mark over one of my mum's brothers, but he's dead now. Her dad died before I was born, but from what I've been told about him, he sounds definitely NT. My dad is quiet, shy even, but NT. None of his family display any traits. The ?AS aunt never married or had children and the ?AS uncle had one son, but I don't know him, as his family fell out with the rest of the family years ago. All of my other cousins seem to be NT, but they do have NT parents.

My husband did the on-line tests and was shown to be NT, but he has a few traits often associated with AS (unusual gait, undiagnosed but quite obvious dyslexia, mild face blindness, tendency to monologue, and others). He's an engineer too. His brother and dad (now deceased) are quite obvious Aspies and it would explain a lot of the arguments we've had with them, but they've never been diagnosed.

Um, nobody related to me has AS, because they are all lucky enough to be NTs. So f**k knows how I got it.
