I have it. It can take me months to recognize someone, even if I've met them several times. I'm not able to recognize coworkers if I happen to run into them outside of work (this can be embarrassing ). I recognize my immediate family but I can't recall what they look like from memory. It's awful but if I close my eyes I can't even picture what my husband and kids look like! For awhile I thought maybe I can't recognize people because I don't tend to look at their faces much and am extremely uncomfortable with anything but fleeting eye contact but even after making an effort to look at faces, I still wouldn't recognize them.

Now see, I also cannot distinguish between race (classic example was not knowing my first boyfriend was Indian until a few months into the relationship). But the thing that gets me is that I can't recognise identical siblings, if I had mild facial blindness I'd likely not have this.

Do you mean you do not recognize identical siblings as identical?

Yes, sorry, that's what I meant.

I often think I recognise someone, only to then realise that I don't. That's really my main issue. I'm also not very good at remembering names. I sometimes see people whom I know that I know, but I have no idea what their name is or where I even know them from.

I have problems recognising ppl unles sthey are in their usual setting. ie - A neighbour I have known for 20 years I wouldn't recognise it I saw them say by the beach, or somewhere other than where I live. I don't recognise my brothers inlaws still and I have met them loads of times.

I tend to remember striking or very attractive people though.

Well, on the Famous Faces test, I got 17%. Most people get 85% and anything below 50% indicates possible faceblindness.

And on the Real vs Computer Generated Faces test, I scored 37 (average 49.2) on real faces, and 33 (average 53.95) on computer-generated faces. (They're the realistic looking kind, like Second Life or something.)
