I have dressed in Punk style. It was OK, because then nobody asked me why I am so weird.

I generally dress in what's comfortable and suitable for the temperature. My clothes aren't out of date but if the latest fashion was something that was uncomfortable or impractical, I wouldn't force myself to wear it.

I love fashion! But even as recent as fifth grade (I'm in twelth grade now), I could've cared less about it. But even as early as pre-school, I still wanted to follow the trends. Nowadays, I can predict trends that won't even come into play for another two years. I am constantly getting asked where I got my clothes at, how much they cost (some is designer but I'm also happy with Wal-Mart), and what sizes and colors they are available in. And since I'm so small, I'm stuck in the children's department for clothing so I never really have to worry about someone I can't stand owning the same apparel item. Oh, and for back to school, I made an inventory of all the clothes I wanted to purchase at about six different stores and went on their websites and checked their ads constantly to see if there was a price change. So yeah, I'm into fashion. Everyone judges each other by the way they look and since I'm a people person, I want to fit in. That and I just love clothes! lol By the way, is this uncommon for an Aspie to like fashion as much as me? I'm not obsessed with it or anything, I just love shopping and buying cute, new outfits and accessorizing with them and stuff.

Fashion is wearing what other people tell you that you should wear

Style is wearing whatever looks good on you.

Sadly I have neither :(

I love looking at fashion, but I don't follow it. I like fashion simply because some of the more unique and bizarre outfits out there look nice, but the only things I usually wear are jeans and guys' t-shirts (they tend to be more comfortable, plus I'm also currently going through some confusion as to which gender identity suits me better :? ). Still, I'm happy with that, and I do dress in clothes that I think look nice, even if no one else thinks the same. I tend to dress more in what interests me rather than what suits me. :)

I tend to wear what's comfortable and not embarrasing nor attention-grabbing.

Fashion/trends is one issue, and dressing in a way that looks good or stylish is another issue. 2 separate but related issues.

If you do not follow the latest fashion/trends, it does not matter. Follow them if they interest you, or if not, it is inconsequential.

As for dressing in a way that looks good/stylish, like it or not people do frequently include your clothing as a factor in determining their view/opinion of you. Therefore every aspy should be aware that their choice of clothing is broadcasting some message about them. You cannot stop the message being broadcast, but you can influence what the message is.

If your clothing looks really bad, gaudy, shabby, mismatched, extremely boring, or cheap 'n' nasty, then you will probably receive less respect from other people on average. Whereas people who dress in a stylish attractive manner have an immediate advantage before they even speak their first word.

Myself, I view my clothing as a form of artistic expression. And I like art, therefore I like paying attention to the artistic nature of my clothing. But NOT in a big showy way, i.e. I do not want to look like a walking art exhibit or have people gawking at me, so really it is a minimalistic form of art.

It doesn't seem to matter what I wear or how I try to look, people still apparently find something wrong with it and stare and giggle at me. So seeing as it doesn't make any difference anyway, I might as well just wear what I want and be comfortable.

Yes! I think that is so true.

I'm terminally fashion-impaired according to most everyone else, but that's their problem. If they don't like what I'm wearing, they can stare at somebody else. :D

Someone in my math class wears a really long tail that comes out of his pants, and dog ears on his head. Nobody talks to him, other than when they 'greet' him saying, "Hey, it's Matt the Cat!" (I nearly went out of my mind at first, thinking they were referring to me, as that is my name, and they said it in the same tone as the start of teasing in high school.)

After "Matt the Cat" left the classroom the other day, I heard some people talk about him. One said, "The reason I just don't ask him why he is wearing it is that people who dress like that do it to make people want to ask. That's just what he wants."

I don't like to stand out, so I go for conservative, modest clothing that's comfortable, practical, and that *I* think looks okay. I don't understand most fashions - some fashions I think can look good on people, but I usually could never pull them off anyway.

My fashion sense has become my mom's fashion sense. She always wears sweatpants and t-shirts, now so do I. I guess this means I'm becoming my mum eh? lol. I try to wear alot of pastel or colorful sweatpants, so at least it looks more cute/girly.

I'm not in fashion. Well, unless you count the just-out-of-bed-hairstyle  without using stuff!! ! I almost never comb my hair, all the time forget it. I was once on camp with other aspies and even the leading team got annoyed by my hairstyle, and those people are trained to never get annoyed by us

So...for the rest, I just wear the things I like to wear.

I wear what *I* want to wear (unless my boss tells me not to). It's pretty much that simple.

When someone sees me wearing the current fad clothing it's not an attempt to "fit in" but simply a result of me looking at the clothing and thinking "I like that". Once the fad has passed I get a few stares because I continue to wear the clothing that is now considered out of fashion. Why wouldn't I? If I liked it enough to buy it in the first place then I'll still like it after everyone else moves on to the next fad. The only time I really abandon anything is when it no longer fits me or is damaged. I still have some 80's clothing. People think I'm into the retro look or something but really I'm just being me.

I just remembered something from a while back. I used to only wear blue and white; mostly white and often all white. My friends found it amusing. For some reason, I was not comfortable in any other colors. I guess they seemed to "loud". I wasn't concious of it at first. I just noticed that my closet was full of blue and white clothes.

Shortly after high school, I was feeling pretty clueless about what to wear so I talked a friend into taking me shopping. He was trying to convine me I should only wear neutrals. Well, white, sure, but black? Hell no! I lightened up eventually. I think I forced myself to buy other colors. It was difficult at first but I managed eventually.

That's similar to me. I used to wear khaki pants and navy blue t-shirts every day when I was in college. Now I wear white t-shirts and jeans every day. And I've worn the same shoes for eleven years.
