Can you tell whether a Member is an Aspie, or not?

I don't know why anyone would pretend to be someone they weren't (unless that was, say, there job, as in, an undercover police officer). To do it on a forum like this seems especially cruel. Then again from what I know of people I would have to assume there are lurkers around although I can't say I have any feelings regarding anyone in particular (I haven't been here very long).

Speaking for myself, I am going for an examination re: AS this friday the 8th and will get results a week later. In my profile I think I list myself as AS, undiagnosed because people said they felt I was AS after I wrote a long post about my difficulties. I have thought about maybe just changing it back to "unsure" to be more cautious.

Not that I do not enjoy posting here and find several post very helpful but what would someone that either is on the spectrum or sincerly belive that they belong on the spectrum or have family or friend on the spectrum really get out of posting here? I am not DX but I am quite sure that I belong here.

I'm officially diagnosed with Asperger's. However, I think I have a pretty mild variant or may even be an NT with strong aspie traits, depending on the definition. I sincerely never have felt as if I were "normal" though.

I have to admire a person who wants to do his job well and does some private research to enhance his performance. I hope for the sake of all those on the spectrum you are in contact with, that you have culled some informative jewels of wisdom from your visits. I think all are welcome here, Dave.

I can't remember how I filled in my profile, I'll have to check, but I've not been diagnosed. (I would not have lied.) There is no 'unsure' for me, however, except the specific place my little spinning bumper car comes to rest on the spectrum. I would want to be diagnosed by a psych who has more experience in HFA, AS and DSI, than the ones I've met so far, while going through my kids diagnoses. They are nice enough, but I was hoping for more answers from them. I have actually found more here, and from links people have posted, than in the offices.

I honestly have no idea why someone would pretend to have AS. If I did not have AS/ AS traits I would find this site very strange and difficult to participate in.

I have had the thought, that since a lot of the school shootings were done by kids who seemed to have aspie-ish traits, and after William Freund, that the FBI probably has someone watching this site (but since I'm a conspiracy theorist, maybe I am biased ).

I am not diagnosed but I noticed sometimes my profile switches to "diagnosed." I have no idea why it does that but the record is set straight here... I am not diagnosed and it is possible I have something else, like schizotypal personality disorder, PTSD, depersonalization disorder, or, just generally messed up disorder.

The FBI could focus making the NT bullies behave decently instead, so that kind of events didn't occur, but that, of course, is out of question.

If we didn't have coward gun laws in this country, I might have shot some bullies at school myself when I was younger.

I don't need a diagnosis from a doctor to understand now, with hindsight, that this is the primary reason why my marriage ended.

My reason why someone would pretend to be AS is because they think if people think they have it, they will feel sorry for that person and give him/her speciel treatmentl like not going to jail, staying his/her friend even though he is rude and nasty and says anything he/she wants.


I also know there are aspies out there who do use their AS as an excuse for their behavior. I heard in yahoo group that this guy killed a few people in Yosemite and he said he had AS just to try to get away with the crime he did. It made me mad. Some people thinking AS is a get out of free jail card and you can't get in trouble by the law for doing a crime.

Everybody's welcome, just as long as as we're all decent people, and we don't discriminate against eachother. I worry about the Ignorant Jackasses who were raised by Ignorant Parents. I'm not worried about most of the Non-Spectrum people who post here.

I am in the process of getting an "official" DX and usually say this befor I spout my experiences or opinions,but then I go on to refer to NT as if I "knew" I wasnt one...maybe,that is a bit confusing?I
do know that whatever has made me the way I am...I relate to many of the topics and experiences and I see this forum as the perfect balance for someone who wants to feel "conected" to other like minded individuals and someone who hates talking to people in the 3D world...works for me.

I have only seen one person here,who is no longer posting and I assume was banned or got bored bullying...I am impressed by the honesty of the posters who are up front about "self-DX" because I know how difficult it is to get official DX without insurence and as older individuals.

As far as NTs posting,as long as their respectful(god knows,some aspies arnt)I like having other perspectives...If an NT says,,,I am NT and experience the same trait...good...thats information,I like information.The only problems I have had is with some NT parents who seem to want to "cure" their kids instead of understand them...Some...not all..so dont get your hackels up unless your guilty of this....some....can be very insulting.
