I find washing hair to be...weird. like if I use shampoo it feels like I can never get all of the soap out, but if I use bar soap, it feels all incredibly dry, yet squeaky clean.

My hair is short and thin, so it dries fairly quickly and needs no combing other than the quick application of the factory-standard 5-teeth one. My hair gets greasy fairly quickly too. My mom used to wash my hair until I was well in my teenage years. Now I shower every weekdays and once on weekends, usually in the morning (it helps to wake me up), and wash my hair every other day, except weekends.

I wash my hair after a washed my body down and I do it in the bathtub sitting on my heels (knees down), letting all the water run down on me, then I soap my whole body once again along with my hair, and wash down my hair and then my body. This way it's not a bit unpleasant, unlike the very rare cases I do it the standard way standing by the tub without letting my body to get wet.

Anyone else here really, really HATE washing your hair? I find it such a chore, and I have to build up all the courage to do it. But I don't like having greasy hair either, because it's uncomfortable. But I just hate washing my hair. I just hate the idea of my head getting wet. I don't know if that's got to do with sensory issues.

It is a chore isn't it? Taking your clothes off, getting in the shower, getting your hair wet, washing your hair, getting out of the shower, drying off, and getting dressed again, only to know you will have to (or should) do it again in a few days, and it makes one wonder how much of one's life one spends doing this.

My advice to you is, work quickly and get it over with. You should aim for 15 minutes or less in the shower.

There is a standard way to having a bath/shower?

I much prefer a shower than baths and could stand in one quite happily for the rest of time.

Unfortunately my bathroom is too damn small to accommodate one in height , I can barely even stand with the bath there.

I hate washing my hair, and showering. And my hair gets greasy by the next day anyways so it just feels like a waste of time. I read somewhere that if you went long enough (I think about 2 weeks) without washing your hair, then your scalp would cut down on the oil production and you wouldn't need to use shampoo anymore, just rinse it whenever you take a shower. I couldn't get the 2 weeks away from humans to try it out, I got 9 days though, and it was starting to look like it might work.

It'd start to itch well before that.

Not really. :) Only my mom used to wash my hair this way. I frequently complained about the shampoo getting in my eyes.

Oh dear, no. I love washing my hair. I hate it when it's all yucky and greasy.

Mostly I just forget to have a shower. I don't like the way the water feels, I get in and out as quick as I can. I have very short hair that does not get oily, so even if I forget to use shampoo it looks alright (thankfully).

I went to get my hair cut (something I don't usually like doing but if I don't my hair, which is wavy and very thick, will start to look like that of a sheepdog's) a couple weeks ago and the hairdressers said I was washing it TOO much (nearly every day). I protested "But if I go for even one day without washing my hair turns into a stringy, greasy mop", and they told me that was from washing it too much. So now I'm trying to only wash it every other day. I usually just wash it, comb and let it naturally dry, I think it's stupid to spend an hour on it like some "other" women and I hate sticky hair spray and mousse and gel and whatever gunk that supposed to make your hair look more "beautiful". The girls in the salon practically begged me to put a little spray into my hair after it was done!

It's a huge chore. I find myself wondering each time why I haven't cut my hair shorter yet. It's long and very thick, which makes it hard to work the shampoo down to my scalp.

Then, the conditioner. That takes effort to get through all of my hair, and I end up having to use a lot of the stuff.

The thing I dislike the most about showering is how much I shed. I'm constantly picking off loose strands from my shoulders, and pulling out whole snatches of them... then, combing my hair later on produces even more loose hair. After my hair's dried and the whole chore is done with, I'm surprised it doesn't feel thinner!

Yeah, I can't stand it. It's not so bad in the summer since I don't mind getting cooled off, but in the winter, it's torture because I'm freezing for the next hour plus the water gets cold halfway through, despite turning it all the way up. And brushing it is an absolute nightmare. It gets so horribly tangled that it takes at least fifteen minutes with detangling spray to brush through it. I have long hair and I have to keep it this way (for competition reasons).

To those of you who feel that you must wash your hair everyday, have you ever tried just rinsing it? I do this sometimes, when I have been sweating but don't want to do a complete wash. My hair gets very dry if I wash it too much.
