I got 15, did not miss a single pass. I noticed from the star that both the white and black players had a basketball each and were passing it amongst themselves, so I consciously tracked the ball the white people had and watched where it went, while ignoring everything I saw a black person do. Yea, I missed the gorilla, but I had such focus on the ball that the only time throughout the entire video that I did not know where it was was at the beginning, because I had to initially find it. Because of that, I blotted out the gorilla cause I saw black and told myself to ignore it. Had it been a real life situation, I would have noticed the gorilla at once while not caring about counting the ball passes, cause why would you want to count that? :P

I'm an Aspie, and I didn't notice any patterns or details - just a group of slim people prancing around throwing 2 balls. I definately did not notice the gorilla at all.

I've done this before - I saw the gorilla and counted 12 or 13 passes (I forget which). No point in watching it again because I know the trick.

I liked OddFinn's answer, though:

I counted 13 and did not see any gorillas. I did see, however, a person wearing a black hairy costume that could remotely resemble someone's opinion of how a gorilla would look like.

What the heck? I can't believe I didn't see that gorilla.

Counted 15 can caught the gorilla on the way out - my peripheral vision is sharper on my my left. Was pretty funny that I totally missed the thumping of the chest in the middle of it.

I'm not so sure this can be used to determine anything other than people doing what they are told. The setup suggested that there was going to be some trick to it so I was waiting for it. It would seem that most people just followed directions and gave the attention to the somewhat convoluted scenario and keeping count - which is exactly what they are supposed to do. If you play the video with no directions the results are much different. Pop psychology experiment that may be interesting to some people but basically means nothing.

I'm pretty sure I'm ADD too. Focusing on a specific task for one and half minutes isn't exactly that big of a challenge, even for me.

I suppose it's going to be one of those things again where if you missed the gorilla you're an Aspie and if you did see the gorilla you're an NT, or something like that.

I didn't know this until I saw the second ball out of the corner of my eye (near the beginning but not instantly). I was just super-focused on the white people (and did count all 15 as well).

Oh my! The video stopped buffering when the gorilla came on screen and yet I missed it.. I was concentrating on the basket ball. I got the count right though.

I didn't pick up that the black and white people would only be passing the ball among themselves, so was trying to follow both balls at the same time... I only counted 8 throws.

It was a bit hard to focus on counting when there was this gorilla walking through the game!! When it first walked into the frame I was annoyed because I thought it was another player I was going to have to try to keep track of.

Very interesting, I'd read about this test- it was mentioned in Animals in Translation by Temple Grandin, and yes, she says anyone with autism would see the gorilla- but I had not actually seen it.
Not at all how I pictured it!, hardly looks like a gorilla, just someone in a hairy costume, seems to be purposefully designed to blend into the people in black.

I did see the gorilla, but then I did know it was going to be there.
Misread instructions as number of time people in white pants-

Counted 15 passes AND the gorilla.

But I cheated. I read about this test in my psychology book a few years ago. :P

Aha! Hopefully this has been a solution to my social anxiety problems I've been having! This video has shown that a ''different'' character can be blended in with the rest of the people, a bit like myself when walking through a busy shopping centre with, like, hundreds and hundreds of other people - this proves that I can be blended in too! Before I always thought I looked different and stood out like a sore thumb (even though I dress presentably and act normal and have even learnt to walk with an ordinary posture).
