Why would he act. What is the point of doing that?

If you allow ads on Youtube you get aprox. $1 per thousand views, this gives some cash when your exceeding 10 million views on a bunch of videos.

I saw him, and his family on 'Rude Tube' (the TV show) talking about one of the videos once. He came across as almost definitely autistic to me.

Maybe he is cute - but the whole family is rather high maintenance.

I was just looking through a few more of the videos and can't believe what I am seeing. I see a LOT of autism traits in Stephen and I find his family's complacency shocking.

When I seen the title of this video I knew from other videos that he would not understand the authority of the police officer (common in autism) and that something bad would happen, but this was just horrible and beyond what I expected: -

I can only assume that if he is on the spectrum then nobody in his family knows about it -- otherwise they would most likely not have called the police and would surely have explained to the officer that he was on the spectrum and was aversive to being touched and may not understand his authority. Actually allowing this to happen strikes me as neglect or abuse.

Anybody?

But I understand the Police and the Authority. which you have to follow the laws.

I too think that he is on the spectrum.
He does display many behaviors and symptoms. These include:

Constant temper tantrums and meltdowns.

Ripping his clothes off when frustrated or angry.

Trouble understanding the position and role of authority. (EX: the confrontation with the cop.)

Difficulty with change. (EX: when given the punishment of being grounded and new computer for two weeks he gets unreasonably upset.

Having violent meltdowns.

(EX: breaking things and beating up
p his brother.)

He also displays these behaviors:

Misinterpretinng or misunderstanding what people are saying, such as when the Happiest Company Dot Com guy said gay and he was not referring to Stephen and Stephen had a rageful meltdown.

Lack of empathy. This is demonstrated in the video where his niece complains about tooth pains and he yanks it out of her mouth.

Repetitive behaviors.

social skills problems. This is demonstrated by his constant fights with his family and others.

Sensitive to touch. This is demonstrated in the gymnastics video where he does not want the teacher to touch him. He has the same issue with the cop.

He lacks planning ability and taking in the big picture. This is demonstrated in the video when he and his family discuss the batmobile and taking it to L.A.

A lot of people say it's acting, but the way he freaks out especially in the very first Greatest Freakout video, I can feel how real it is. In the first video, he's angry about his mum canceling a World of Warcraft game or something like that, which is not surprising for a teenage male on the spectrum to have a freak out over. Also, in the first video, the way he suddenly goes all calm at the end, and looks like he has tired himself out, but still looking rather angry he calmly evacuates himself from his bedroom. I've done that before after an outburst.

I just don't feel it's acting. If it is, these people know a lot about Asperger's, because a lot of his behaviours just seem like male Asperger's to me, over things what male Aspies mostly get obsessed and have freak outs about, like computers and games.

The alternative - that it might be fake - isn't any better, is it? Because in that case, what, they're picking on and making fun of people with similar issues?

That Greatest Freakout Ever did NOT look fake and he seems helpless against the sounds he's making as he screams. He's choking...this is SO MUCH like my Classic/Kanner boy...so much...my son doesn't get this entirely out of control but all the things he's saying...he wants to get out, he hates his life, and how he paces helplessly and frantically toward the door, stops short, runs back to the bed, throws the covers over...even the way he runs, lurching side to side...threatening to throw things but clearly he doesn't want to, he's that desperate, then he finally does throw the item and kind of jerks back like "NOW I did it" in fear...OMG...this is my son. This brought me to tears.

I clicked on a second video, I don't know why, maybe I'm a glutton for punishment or maybe I was just so shocked & couldn't believe this...and the mother is involved...she isn't saying, "What the hell are you boys doing? Why are you acting so weird?" I don't see much indication that this is fake in light of that, unless the mother is somehow in on it too, and I somehow doubt that. I mean if your son didn't typically act like this and then did, wouldn't you be going, "What...the hell...are you doing? Is this some kind of joke?" or whatever? She doesn't do that, she keeps arguing with the specifics of what he's upset about.

Meanwhile, the father is clearly in the one video and DOESN'T come rushing in to say "What on earth, I hear all this screaming"? That would also seem to indicate that this is a normal thing in the household, I mean if this boy were NT and didn't do these things, and the dad all of a sudden heard hysterical screaming and items being thrown, he wouldn't come running?

If it's real, shame on the brother. If it's not real, shame on the brothers. And mom. And dad. And every other person in these videos who is acting upset but not as if this is totally weird and something their son doesn't actually usually do.

I think he may be on the spectrum and I think it's real. I think his dad and brother are complete a-holes. There was an episode where Stephen is working as a streamer on twitch but his dad destroys hua stuff even though that's his job and can get paid to play video games.

I think (assuming this is real...I realize not everyone feels that way) his parents need help. A lot of it. He's man-sized and they're reacting with abuse. It's a bad situation. I wonder what the real story is here, and if he is indeed special needs, whether there this family is receiving any supports.

No, the videos are fake, if it was real, then he is autistic, but the videos are really fake so he is not really autistic.

It's so annoying that you can't trust most things you see on YouTube and that things just turn out to be acting.

But, as a Brit, I find it hard to tell when American people are acting and when they aren't.
