In view of some recent controversial threads, I have set up this poll .
1) I don't post in a thread started by the "undiagnosed." 3%  3%  [ 2 ]
2) I don't post in threads with an unfamiliar author, because (come to think of it) the lack of "connectivity" doesn't move me to do so. 0%  0%  [ 0 ]
3) I don't post in certain threads because" they" (the author), rub me the wrong way- "my personal feelings get in the way." 3%  3%  [ 2 ]
4) I don't post in threads because of the content, missing the possible idea that it could help -- "it triggers something unpleasant". 9%  9%  [ 6 ]
5) Likely my participation doesn't matter in any way shape or form of who posted or content. 85%  85%  [ 58 ]
Total votes : 68

I will post in any threads that seem interesting to me and that I can contribute to.

I've noticed a few threads on here started by habitual 'trolls'. I avoid responding to them, but I read the responses and it's obvious that others haven't realised what the OP is trying to do. They sometimes seem to think it's a genuine query and try to help the OP. I've spotted one today. On another website's forum, I just report these threads. I don't know if you can do that here. It's much better than troubling yourself to come up with an intelligent response.

I don't mind what someone's label is, what they are saying is what will shape my relationship to them. Very occasionally I will check out labels; sometimes it can help provide some context.

I don't think it would be against the rules to say something like 'I think the OP may be pulling our legs'.

I think 5. I feel that my opinion will be ignored / skipped for a more popular member's opinion.

There is one that morphed. Unfortunately it got out of hand. The literalness of autism prevented an expansion, and the name calling shut er' down. Can't have dialog with this. It may have worked on an NT board.

OHHHHH, it looks like the instigating poster's user name begins with "Amy" and ends with "F". Is that the one?

She said she had trouble making friends in school... I wonder why.

(Is this post typical NT gossip?)

And, yeah, I noticed that name calling and other typical NT behavior seems more acceptable on NT boards.

No, I don't think it would either. But, if I respond to these posts it tends to be an intellectual outpouring of all the scientific facts, and I'm accused of 'standing on a soapbox'. Before I know it, I'm at the centre a heated discussion. I'm the total opposite in person, of course.

I don't really care who's posting it, but there are certain members whose posts I know I will enjoy, so I'm always happy to read one of those. That's about as far as I go with the labels. I don't go around looking for particular people but I do keep track of what I read of them.

No, it's still quite unlocked.

I put 5 because I pretty much just click any thread and respond! I'm not really bothered whether someone replies or not. If they do, bonus!

I avoid posting (under the God-fearing lesbian rule) about one thread per visited sub-forum per visit. ^^

I only post in topics that are either

A interesting
B polls (polls are awesome).
C broad enough for me to talk about whatever I want and get away with it
D all of the above.

I chose option 4.

I clicked 1 when I meant to click 5, sorry about that! Please make a mental adjustment when looking at the chart.

The only threads in which I don't post are ones that turn into two people arguing with each other, with the arguments becoming totally personal and having nothing to do with the topic.

The only thing that motivates me to reply to a topic here is identification with it and/or the ability to see a solution to the issue proposed.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
