I'm gluten intolerant and have been on a gluten free diet since last October. I'm surprised the difference its made - my IBS has pretty much cleared up. It's hard to do at first, but it gets easier. I'm very very glad rice doesn't contain gluten as I eat lots!

I'm veggie. Never gave up on gluten because I just love bread, pasta, etc. I think everything in excess is bad for you, generally speaking, providing you don't have any specific disease or intolerance. If you eat too much gluten your gut will suffer and consequently all your body because it depends on everything your gut can assimilate. Even if you drink too much water your kidneys may suffer... depending on your general condition. In health issues, each person is unique because the interaction between genes and environment is unique. So I guess the "no excess" rule is the key for most people.
