Save yourself some time and divide the whole thing by zero. It's considered dangerous and as a result it's outlawed, so don't get caught.

Yeah they outlawed dividing flying pigs by zero because causing them to vanish from reality like that was considered a waste of food.

Please don't divide it by zero!
Black holes are where the universe divided by zero.

I’m trying to figure out if I really have AS or if what I have is actually NLD. The only real difference in them that I can find is the thing with the interest, which is the one thing I was unsure about with myself and AS. How narrow and how intense dose an interest have to be to count as such? Thank you for any feedback.

I am not to sure what would count as an narrow intrest. I have always thought it to be something you can't stop thinking about and want to learn everything you can about it. I also used to talk nonstop about mine.

i usually have one or two very strong interest that i try never to talk about(it bugs people  ) and a few smaller things that i like but have never been interested in enough to spend a lot of time.

If you mean what types of interests count i'd say almost anything.(cartoons, cars, trains, plants, how things work, scheduals)

are you sure thats the only difference between AS and NLD?

True but everyone knows adding together two impossible things creates a bowl of petunias.. or proof of WMDs in Iraq but thats a whole other kettle of hippopotami.

Can you grok it?

I can't answer this, but if you have an interest that is personal and your pursuit of it doesn't prevent you from taking care of yourself and those that depend on you, it's not really a problem. Whether it counts to a psych or not is beyond me.

Another thought is that if there's a forum for it it's not that narrow of an interest, :) but does it rule your waking thoughts? If the answer is 'yes, it's all I think about' then it should be considered as (potentially) an issue to resolve. My problem is that when I catch myself becoming too obsessed with something I may stop, but I just replace that interest with another.

I do get really interested in things, but the difference between me and most other aspis is that I don’t look stuff up and study it intensely; I want to and start to but than get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of knowledge that there is about something. Same thing when it comes to the internet I’m terrible at looking things up because there's just so many search results I can’t sift through them for the relevant info (I’m wondering if these two problems could be because of stimulus overload, even though the stimulus is just in my mind).

I also get easily discouraged, for instance I will think “if you really wanted to learn about that then you should have done it when you were younger” I did this even when I was a kid like at 12 I thought about studying electronics but thought to myself “you should have done that when you were 7 and first interested in it, there’s way to much to learn about for you to ever know it all”.

You used the past tense like it's already happened. I beleive a black hole is the result of an ongoing calculation. I'm not stickin' around for the answer.

Thank GOD for the "search within the results" button!

I will get very obsessed with games though, which don’t usually have enough to them to get overwhelmed about.

Cherokee...This is also a reason I thought I was possibly not AS...I can barely remember where my car keys are, remembering the latin names is impossible for me...(I think its a bit of Dyslexia....I have worked out the English language after years of reading ..but latin just wont stick for me..)So,I may have the desire to learn everything about plants, how they look and how to use them for healing(a major interest for years)but no matter how hard I tried(have about 20 books about topic)I still cant differentiate between similiar plants(like face blindness for me)or remember what is used for what....and I spent hours "trying"...it has been very frustrating....so.although I have the desire to know everything about the plants,I dont have the "intellectual ability" to do so.Is this how it feels to you?

No it’s not entirely like that for me. It’s not really a memory problem, it’s more like if I had 20 books on something I would freak out because that would just be too much for me and I wouldn’t be able to pick a book so I would end up not reading any of them.
