That pre-dates the Lion King by about 50 years, and I don't think it appears in the film.

Mine would be "Oh Happy Day", because the people singing it sound so sad, as well as everything by Katy Perry, especially California Gurls. That isn't how you spell "Girls", you moron, and your song is not nearly as good as the Beach Boys song with a correctly-spelled name.

Are you kidding? First time I saw that video I laughed tears.

If I turn on the radio I guarantee my mood will sink fast. I agree with "dont worry be happy" (its creepy) but "the lion king song"...makes me laugh. I mean: is it possible? aaaaaarrrrrgh!! !

The majority of NTs can't stand it either. It's so bad, it went viral. Think of its success as akin to the way everyone slows down to look at a serious accident on the motorway.

Ahh, the Tokens? Or Tightfit? Great song. Though I recall Stephen King used it as a nightmare trigger in one of the Dark Tower series...

I recall a parody video on YouTube called "California Gays". The song was terrible, but the sight of several young men in speedos was rather appealing.

Whenever I hear Martina McBride's "Happy Girl" or Shania Twain's "Looks Like We Made It", I want to kill myself. I've always had an aversion to country music, mostly because the yellow brown color associated with it (Synestesia). But I mostly hate it because I can't relate to any of it. My used to say I was evil because my favorite verse in a song goes: "I walked into a gunfight with a knife to kill you. And cut you so fast when your blood spilled it was still blue. I'll hang you until you dangle and chain you from both angels and pull you apart from both angels. I want to crush your skull until your brains leak out of your veins and bust open like broken water mains. So tell Saddam not to bother with making another bomb because I'm crushing the whole world in my palm." I don't think most people have expirenced frustration the way I have. One day when she tried to get the local vet to let me volenteer there and she got the BS excuse the clinic was too small, I think she finnaly understood my frustration. But yeah, most country songs, espicaly those sung by women, physicaly hurt me.

^I actually don't mind Country, but I tend to be particular about what and who I like in that area of music. Patsy Cline was a rather good singer/songwriter; I love "Three Cigarettes in an Ashtray".

Those two songs also make me want to cringe.

My taste seems to be particular, but let me say I despise most of today's pop music, perhaps because my colleagues think it's natural making me hear that crap all-day at my workplace. These "songs" are overly repetitive, boring, and obtrusive like hell. I hope oversees it's less so.

I feel the same way about today's pop music as well. I used to have a friend who played nothing but that stuff. She couldn't understand why I detested that music so much. She finally saw the expression on my face and said, "Oh, you don't care for this music. Something must have happened to you in High School to make you not like it."

Nothing happened to me in High School to make me not like that stuff. I've never liked Top 40 after 1987, that's all.

"Don't Worry, Be Happy." 8O God, that song scares the crap outta me! *shudders*

And where do I happen to stumble across it after having avoided hearing it for the past decade? Right here on WP in The Haven! Do not want!

Does anyone else have this peculiar aversion to certain songs, or am I alone in this? I also dislike "Window Licker" and "Come to Daddy" by Aphex Twin, though as I understand it, even some NTs get the skeevies listening to those.

WOW!! ! I was looking at the topic headings on the forums and saw your topic. I immediately said to myself, "Don't Worry, Be Happy." Then I clicked on your post and saw that you had named this song. I was like, Wow!! ! You too. I cannot stand that song. Whenever I heard that song I would turn the radio off. I cannot stand that song. Oh, I already said that.

P.S.---I cannot stand that song.

Maybe it's an autistic thing? I dunno. I was up all night Googling "Autism/Aspergers - Abnormal Fear of Music/Songs" (obsessed much?) and found a few related posts on a couple forums, and it appears that it could be a sensory thing. It's not melophobia, however, as I generally do like other forms of music, and I do not find them in any way terrifying.

There's a book somewhere out there called Musicophilia that points out other causes for such abnormal fear, but I haven't read it and don't know whether or not it can shed light on my problem with "Dont Worry, Be Happy". Has anyone ever read this book?

for some reason, the song "barbie girl" by aqua did NOT repulse me, in the way a song of that type normally would. but i realize it repulses some other people, i'm frankly amazed that it hasn't been mentioned yet.

I quite like that one. It's not just cheese, it's mouldy cheese, but it makes me laugh.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the evil one... J-J-J-J... (chokes) The Bee-bee-bee... (cough) Dare I say his name? If you speak of the devil, he's sure to appear. I shall adopt the safety of medieval times and only speak his name in reverse - Nitsuj Rebieb!

Oh no, it's too late - the Antichrist is here! Spare me, dark lord! Sing not your piercing deathwails! Nooooo!

Lmao, leave him alone, he's just a kid.

One of the most annoying songs ever is Andre 3000's "Hey Ya"; I honestly could not see the appeal the masses had for that song.

'In The Summertime' by Mungo Jerry, purely because of the lyrics, 'Have a drink, have a drive'.

That Rebecca Black one - if something like that had been recorded in the 80s, it would have been totally tongue in cheek. A lot of the acts then (e.g. Wham) never took themselves at all seriously.
