I tend to go into a shower half asleep in the morning, and my shower sessions always end up being very unusual. Sometimes I actually end up having dreams while still being awake in the shower because I keep my eyes closed for the entire time. Sometimes I end up having these extremely weird thoughts like I am being filmed in some movie while showering. I guess this happens when I shower tired.

For me the shower curtains MUST be higher than m head, otherwise it feels as though people want to watch me.
also the exhaust fan I strongly prefer to not run, it gives off bad vibes or very peculiar sounds while I'm in there I feel.

i love bending over and having the jazucci stream of hot water blasting and beating down upon the trigger points on my low back, it is a tremendous pain reliever.

I only experienced that sensation when I had chicken pox. Other than that, showering feels good.

I love just about anything that has to do with water and being wet, unless it's really cold. Sometimes I'll just randomly go to the bathroom and stick my head under the faucet to make my hair all wet, or I'll jump in the shower for a quick rinse. I love to swim, and I love soaking in the tub. I prefer a tub, but I have no problem with a shower. I actually purposely put water in my ears when showering, usually to get the soap out. I'm kind of anal about the way I clean myself, so I usually end up with soap in my ears.

Oh yeah, and I LOVE when it's a really hot summer day, and all of a sudden it just starts pouring like a monsoon. I love going out and just standing/walking in it, getting totally soaked. It's so refreshing... I will NEVER understand why people freak out whenever it rains with all their umbrellas and raincoats and "OMFG, I MUST FIND SHELTER NOW!! !" Dude, it's water... WATER. You know, the "element of life?" Calm down already, people... When I was in elementary school, I walked home from school, and whenever it rained, I'd purposely walk under every gutter drain I could, just to get wet.

As a kid I remember one shower felt like pins and needles but didn't quite hurt exactly. I tired to shower fast when using that shower - and I'm known for taking long showers. I think the shape of the holes in the shower head may effect how the water comes out, so you might try replacing the shower head to stop the pins and needles.

It could be exacerbated by hard water or hard water treatments. I've noticed that hard water makes my skin hurt during and after a shower. In a couple of houses with water softeners it feels weird, like there's a film on my skin that won't wash off. Those are the treatments that add something to the water to soften it - I believe there are other treatments that use a different process and might not have the same affect.

Sometimes when I take a shower, the water feels like little tiny pins and needles piercing my skin. And it hurts no matter how much I adjust the flow of water coming from the showerhead. Fourtunately, my body can tolerate the water if I take my ADHD meds (which lower my body's sensitivity to the environment around me). I'm wondering if there are any other aspies/auties who also find showering difficult at times. How were you able to make showering easier for yourself?
When I was young I would usually take baths. I remember the first time I tried to take a shower that I screamed and turned it off because it felt like I was being stabbed by needles. It hurt a lot.

I didn't try showering again until many years later. When I did I bought a new shower head whose flow rate I could change.

I don't usually shower away from home, but sometimes when I have, like in hotels, I've had the same problem with the water hurting.
