If any clothing is around my neck I feel like I'm being strangled, though I do wear polos a lot, but only because I have too.

I thought polo necks were more like collared shirts. I wear collared shirts all the time. Turtlenecks, I don't wear. I don't think I dislike them - I like wearing a scarf in the winter so I don't mind things around my neck.

I wear the long-sleeved lightweight jerseys with turtlenecks as "underwear" all winter, usually under a sweater ("jumper" for you Brits) or sweatshirt, with either long or short sleeves. I was a little too cavalier in saying I like them or don't mind them: I wait until several of my old ones have gone to rags and the drawer I keep them in is looking empty, then buy several more in various colors. When I first started this routine, I accidentally bought two or three in a synthetic knit, and I couldn't stand the way the fabric felt next to my skin, scratchy: anywhere, neck or not. Now I make certain to get 100% cotton. I wouldn't want wool next to my neck, either: the skin is sensitive there. Anything I wear that's wool, I wear something (like the aforementioned turtlenecks) between it and my skin. So I guess I do have some sensory sensitivities after all, just not desperately severe. I remember when I was little and my mother starched my cottons before ironing. YIKES! The edge of a saw in every seam! It was so nice to grow up and get to wear what I wanted! I also don't like tight elastics anywhere.

Can't wear turtlenecks at all - they make me feel strangled.

Also, even though I wear collared shirts often as I'm required to I never wear turtle necks, the less contact any thing has with my throat the better.

I like turtle necks, because they give me an extra sense of security.

I pretty much always wear shirts with collars, other than to sleep.

I intensely dislike turtlenecks though. Or at least I did when I was much younger, so I stopped wearing them. I have no idea if one would bother me now since it has been many years since I put one on.

I don't know about polos, but I can't stand turtlenecks at all.

Only thing worse than a turtleneck is a dickey! They make ones where all it is is the worst part of the turtleneck (the neck). It's like a partial fake shirt you wear underneath.

I used to wear them at times, but eventually rejected them because they ruffle my hair when I take them off, and I couldn't be arsed to carry a comb about and use it. I have a lot of trouble keeping myself at the right temperature so I'm always removing and replacing woollies. "V" necks are easier but I don't like them very much, so I go for cardigans which are much easier to slip on and off. The only downside is looking like Rigsby from Rising Damp.

I don't like them, they just don't feel right on me. I rather wear scarfs.
