Second, capitalize your I's. Third, double check your spelling. The spelling of some of the words there is causing agony for me.

Anyway, I think the difference is that HFA is a bit more broad, and there are certain requirements for Aspergers that aren't requirements for Autism. HFA is just Autism were the autisic person is considered functional.

Grrrrrr.

Good greif lay off the "grammar police" routine. Please. How do you know whether the English is a second language for the OP? Not to mention many with Autism are not the greatest at spelling and grammar. Picking on that is just plain judgmental.

Second, your assessment of HFA is pretty much correct, but it should be added that pretty soon (2013) the DSM won't differentiate between HFA, PDD-NOS, AS and all forms of Autism. If the proposed changes are approved, it will all be "Autism Spectrum Disorder" with grades of severity.

HFA too here. Doesn't seem to be that common tbh.

Btw lecks, off topic i know, but where did you get your screenname from? Does it mean something in Belgium at all? The only reason i ask, ive encountered someone else from Belgium (within wow) that also went by the same screen name. Any belgiumy specific reason for both of you to have the same name?

I wanted to name my first WoW character Lex but it was taken, so I chose Lecks instead. It has no meaning here, but I've been told it means 'leaks' in German.

Which server was this person on and which class/race? It might've been me. :o

It's alright. I can't help it sometimes, the kid's in high school, he should know how to spell "athlete" at 16 years old.

Hmm, I don't think I've played on Sporeggar. Yeah, that seems strange to me too. I guess Belgians aren't a very original people.

What was the class/race though, now I'm curious.

He might be in high school but that doesn't say much of anything people can learn fast or slow.
It took me a very long time to spell how I am today. Bad spelling is in my family. I understand I may not look like I am trying because of my spelling having no capital letters or none of the little marks ( ;) I didn't know how to spell with capital letters I do know how to spell with capital letters today what I normally do not use them when I am online. I become laid-back.
But there are times when I am trying to spell I know I do not know how to put ; , < the symbols on the letters.
But to spell words I tried as hard as I possibly can. And if people get frustrated I sometimes use my Dragon program so people don't start freaking out over spelling and grammar I find it a simple way to make peace sometimes.
My point is some people may be trying very hard on days.
And other days you might just want to relax. I am both of them days.
And I'm sure others are to :)

not everyone knows how to socialize properly.
And I understand why you are so upset over the rude words even if the person doesn't realize.
I'm going to be honest with you I have been in such a bad mood over the déjà vu freaking me out that I really don't care.
I'd rather keep the peace with everyone I understand both sides :/

there seems to be different answers I'm not sure if everyone answered the same but from what I can understand people were pretty much saying that no one knows or am I wrong?

HFA is an informal term that refers to anyone with traditional Autism that is "high functioning", hence the name. Aspergers requires specific criteria that implies higher functioning overall, but it doesn't guarantee anything. If not all the criteria for AS is present the diagnosis is Autism or PDD-NOS(?).

I've read in several sources that the differences are what I mentioned on page 1. Not everyone agrees with this and people have been diagnosed contrary to these criteria which is where the discord comes in. The DSM specifically mentions speech delay as a criterion for Autism, though.

Basically, there is little real difference between the two diagnoses and depends entirely on how your particular doctor interprets the DSM and typical presentation.

One definition (unnoffical one) says that it depends on IQ... so if your IQ is over 80, you have HFA, and under 80, you have LFA. I don't exactly agree with that, but that's one arbitrary designation.

I'm 67, and long finished with High School, and with some college under my belt, including college Psychology, and a whole lot of Life Experience behind me, and _I_ still don't always know how to socialize properly. I'm learning, though, even though slow or "delayed". When I was in school it was not realized that some people need "Social Skills Training", and I've had to figure it out for myself, with a lot of Blind Spots. I never knew until I was diagnosed a couple of years ago, from one of the tests, just how _much_ I was missing in facial expressions, forget Body Language, which I have studied in "book l'arnin'" a little bit. Being on the internet helps, since there are no facial expressions to interpret/misinterpret here, and emoticons are very simplified and easy to interpret.
