Yes! Well, not anymore actually, but for years as a teenager whenever I would smoke weed or cigarettes with friends, I would have to ask someone else to light it for me. It was actually pretty embarrassing since people were so perplexed as to why anyone would be unable to light a lighter.

i have trouble, too. my low manual dexterity is why i'm not a musician, though i love and understand music.

i have a radical idea: save your own life. stop smoking. dying young is an epidemic among folks with psychiatric diagnoses. smoking at higher rates is a big part of the increased death. don't be a statistic.

Omg! I know. I don't smoke cigarettes, but I do smoke weed because I get bad migraines and it helps my Fibromyalgia.

I don't smoke cigarettes but I do smoke weed. I need to because nothing else makes me forget about how much pain my body is in 24/7. I am on muscle relaxers and medicine for migraines and nothing really makes me feel okay. I mean I understand I will have to deal with pain for the rest of my life but I don't want it to be so intense. Therefore, I will have to smoke some pot. Sorry.

Me too! Well, not about having Fibromyalgia but I have a medical marijuana card for migraines. And luckily I am now able to light lighters on my own

Ahh! That is awesome. I want a medical marijuana card! I have to have someone else light it for me. It sucks. :(

I don't remember having problems with lighters even though I don't smoke and have little reason to use one.

I do have a lot of trouble lighting matches. I also have trouble with some can openers. Some I can use, some just don't want to hook on the can right.

I used to stink at lighters but got good at them after years of chainsmoking cigarettes.

Zippos are way easier, but they're hard to hold onto ... I've had many stolen from me (jealous of mrXxx for having one 10 years). Plus zippos taste awful.

Matches taste best. I've never been good at lighting match-book matches, but the box type "strike anywhere" matches are a lot easier, have bigger wooden stick, etc. Oh my, I do love the smell of match sulfur.

I see myself as being quite nifty with my fingers, and striking lighters as such isn't a problem here, but I don't get on well with lighters. They work for a while, then after the second or third fill, the flame gets inexplicably weedy and/or won't light. Piezo crystal is better than flintwheel for sparking - I used to have a couple of warts on my finger ends and didn't want to spread the spores by scrubbing my finger ends on that abrasive wheel. But piezos suddenly let you down by seizing up. Adjustable flame size is good too, because sometimes there's a blockage and you can blow it clear by opening up to maximum flame size. But like I say, the flame always gets smaller and smaller over time. And they don't work outside. And if you keep using them they get too hot and burn your hand.

I like the idea of petrol lighters, which defnitely work better outside, but they seem quite messy.
Don't like matches. There's never anywhere to throw the spent ones away, and they shouldn't be put back in the box. And they break when you strike them.

i am not sure.

if the "cigarette lighter" is the subject of a commercial, then i am sure it could be lit by multiple light sources so as to create the correct ambiance for the shot sequences.

but if you are talking about the actual act of igniting a "lighter", then the best way to do that is to blast it with an oxy-actylene torch.

LOL
I can't light lighters, either!
I've figured out that for me, it's a probably a nerve problem.
The combination of pressing down and pulling back actually tickles my hand, and I just can't do it.
Kind of like I can't open a water bottle or anything for awhile after I first wake up because the pressure on my hands sends me into a fit of laughter.

I'm also a little afraid of like... setting my hand on fire. I know it's stupid, but in the back of my mind, I just know that flame is going to leap up before I've gotten my thumb away. I KNOW IT.
