Yes, I think most people with AS have lateral thinking, like me. I have helped my friends and family with problems (that I think they are little problems), and when they see the results they sayy "Thanks, you have saved my life".

But there's the other side. Some problems NTs think they are very simple, are big problems for aspies.

That's one of a lot of reasons I think AS is not a neurological problem. People with AS are in this world, cuz It must be a balance

that happens to me all the time.

At home we had this huge six gallon thing of penut oil we would use for cooking. My dad was the only one who could lift it and we had to use it once when he wasn't home. My mom (an NT) was all set to go to the store and by a smaller container when I pointed out that we could just use the turkey baster to pull out the tablespoon's worth we needed. She was quite amazed.

Another time I had to draw something for a class. My fine motor skills are crap, I can't draw anything. So all I did was print off a picture of what I had to draw, planning to trace it. It turns out the paper we had was to thick to copy through. My sister was just like, oh well there goes that plan. I went into the kitchen and got a glass cuting board. I put it smoth side up on top of a lamp and the light shining through made it very easy to trace.

yeah happens to me alot. i'm known as the fixer and people constantly look me up whenever they have a convoluted problem be it mechanical or emotional.

or as my bf puts it, i cut through all the BS.

i however, have alot of problems doing what 'normal' people do, i mean generally i will find a solution, but it tends to be a little OTT. even if it does get the job done :-/
