I've been told that I'm a lot more fun to be around when I'm drunk, and I'm much more sociable/talkative. The only issue is, though I lose my social inhibitions, I tend to babble excessively about my "obsessive" interests, ie, going around the bar trying to draw people into conversations about physics, philosophy, etc, lol.
I tend to philosophize more when I am sober and 'in company' - my drinking talk tends to morph into the (low level) social drinking talk that I am surrounded by.
Now that I have quit drinking and will often/usually be attending a social drinking venue with the benefit of Valium, I expect I will be much quieter and more reflective than when boozing.
I will have to concentrate on making enough (social or otherwise) noises to avoid being perceived as aloof, but at least I will be more comfortable in my listening mode and not feeling anxious about being left out of the conversation, or saying something weird.
What a ****ing performance, just to pass for 'normal' amongst these tribal people!
At least my attendance at social drinking venues is very exceptional rather than the norm.
