Well, if you were to say "... pondering their assumed Autism..." then I'd have no basis to rant on it, right?

No. I have nothing to prove to you.

That's right - ignore me. Pretend that I don't exist. This is the same advice that moderators have given me when I've whined about someone 'bashing' me.

Even better: if enough WP members ignore me, then I'll have no choice but to go away. Wouldn't that be nice?

The obsession with dead people seems to be a common human theme. Humans grieve over the loss of loved ones. Humans try to "learn from the mistakes" of history.¹ Humans are particularly attracted to the notion of deceased heroes and antiheroes, who by their very absence can be molded to reinforce whatever dogma the living are trying to push upon each other.² Those who cease living in their youth are typical targets for such heroification, as they often do not live long enough to demonize themselves by making the more severe cultural mistakes that humans are prone to.³

Apparently Auties are no different from NTs in regard to posthumous (anti)heroification.

I also noticed this trend about wondering whether the undiagnosable deceased were Aspies, and was tempted to start a thread asking "Were any dead people ever Autistic, yes or no?" but deleted it before I submitted to it. People are entitled to their interests, even if I personally feel that it is for something as pointless as obsessing over formerly human inert matter.

Especially if said inert matter is a special interest. On wrongplanet, people have every right to speculate about their special interests.

-
¹ - Only to repeat them once and again.
² - Jesus Christ, Gautama Bhudda, Adolph Hitler, Michael Jackson, etc
³ - Jeff Buckley, Joan of Arc, Buddy Holly, etc

well its kinda stupid to have a debate over it. and its what other disability groups do. it seems to be the one of the only things that really resonates with NTs because it is an emotional association. i have actually claimed Einstein was autistic in a class presentation while thinking about how dumb i sounded, but hey if thats a strategy that gets people interested and listening to the important logical arguments i make later in the presentation then i would be dumb not to. but yeah on the whole i would agree that no one on this forum needs to have an emotional connection to a dead person to understand AS. its just sometimes a good opening remark to make to an audience i don't understand because it makes a bridge of understanding to a well known person that everybody understands. it also makes NTs see that we aint evil psychopaths, and that is one of the main reasons i would bring that up in the first place. to me dead celeb remarks just seem kind of out of context on this forum, i would never think to give this audience a lecture on it.

[sarcasm]You're right, curiosity is pathetic. [/sarcasm]

FYI, this thread is an attempt to self-affirm yourself.

for a thread that started out as a way to say that he didn't want pride that sure is a funny way to counter him. i don't agree with everything he says but i don't think he's trying to affirm himself.

My IQ is only 130+ - although not valid because of how nervous/distracted I was - and I wasn't tested for IQ, only for determining my diagnosis. (professionally administered test 2011)

My friend scored 168 on the online menza tho.

I was in neuroscience, but am currently deferred. (hence the aspergers)

Did I just accidentally bash a bashed basher? If your getting bashed by other people, and this was an attempt at a scapegoat, by bashing someone else, then we have a lot more in common than I had originally speculated.

You didn't attack me or anything, which is surprising and has left me in the wrong, I have trolled the wrong person.

I am uber pissed, and am searching for Trolls and misguided mods - somehow I mistook you for one of those.

It has come to my attention, from your responses, that you are well deserved of respect, from my single opinion, I apologize to you and only you.

Ps: Thanks for not lying, it doesn't sound like you are, a lot of people on here do, just to gain respect, and that also pisses me off.

It's quite annoying when a high school student is on here, and they abuse there rights. It's happened to me

PS: I have PTSD, if I find out someone lied to me, I will seek drastic vendetta.

:duh: Wow! An apology? for ME?! !

Thank you, Kail. I thought we might be having a p_ssing contest and end up warned, suspended, or banned.

I appreciate your honesty, too.

Carry on!

What about his clear attempt at bragging his IQ score and qualifications? I'll just self affirm myself here a little by stating i got 144 IQ in a professionally administered test when i was 16, to get into the university gifted program.

Because we are trying to stay optimistic and we need hope. Reading about some of this great people who probably had aspergers and succeeded gives us hope.
Right now I have no friends or job and I need all of the hope I can get. I consider myself a pessimistic Optimist because I have hope.
Hope is what keeps me from killing myself right now.
George Orwell is on that list and he is an inspiration to me. I loved Animal Farm it was a great comparison to communist Russia.
Thomas Jefferson is on the list. He is on of the best presidents an d also a very good writer.'
The answer is hope in a very cruel, apathetic world

Excuse me, but where have you seen the word "pride" in the post that started this thread?

I'd appreciate a little more honesty on your part, kid.

Hope is good. Sometimes, it's all we have to sustain ourselves.

Best wishes.

I take speculations about dead famous persons' having Asperger's Syndrome or whatever with a large grain of salt. They aren't here anymore, they were people with many aspects other than what they were famous for, and it's not possible to say with certainty that X celebrity had Y syndrome. It is, however, possible to project onto past famous persons to see what one wants to see.

Slightly off topic, I have a good friend with AS, bless her, who sees Asperger's Syndrome in many socially awkward, obsessive or perseverating people she encounters online and is adamantly positive they have it, because she does and she recognizes it.

Recognizing AS traits in self or others doesn't indicate anyone has it. A person needs to be able to distinguish between traits identical to AS and other possibilities.

Read through this thread, and you will see how much it screams 'I need confidence, agree with me'.

Honesty? We're aspies, we can't lie !

you said something about how people were insecure and they needed to affirm themselves by seeing something in famous people.
