Okay, I thought about it, and this what I'm trying to get across.
I don't agree with stereotypes, but they're still out there.
People need to care enough to change their thoughts, and most of all, be aware of what they do.
Society in America, does not care enough about that otherwise studies would not produce these results on a consistent basis.
Just last year, I participated in a symposium at my university where a psychology major (like myself) conducted an experiment on peoples' perceptions on HOOTERS women. Their results found that people stereotype them as unintelligent and essentially ditzy. Does it mean that they should quit their job to be taken seriously? No, but since the stereotypes still persist, they're NOT GOING TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. Until there are more extreme measures that are taken through the media, these stereotypes will continue because not very many people care enough to stop them. So to me it seems weird that women don't realize that their actions affect how they will be treated in return.
