Oh, so if you're female, you can either be sexually attractive or taken seriously, but not both?
That's very interesting.

Well, I can't quote this, but people with larger breasts are naturally perceived as being more promiscuous and less intelligent. By showing their goods, they're making the stereotype happen. If they cover up, they're not going to be seen as the typical big-breasted ditz and they then won't feed into the stereotype. Sad but.. true (to a certain degree).

So people should just give in to stereotypes instead of trying to change them?

The reality is there is no such thing as "normal".
What people on this forum call 'NT' is just 'not autism'
There is a whole alphabet soup of "disorders" out there, that for the most part are merely differing traits. Granted, some of those traits come with significant challenges, but they also come with talents. Sometimes I suspect that the psych industry is just out to categorize every aspect of the human mind as some kind of disorder so that they can attract more business. Some day even "PHD" will be a disorder.

The human race is a very strange, quirky species. No two of us are completely alike.

Sit down and get to know anyone well, and you will find and appreciate their own unique "weirdness".

No, but awareness of the stereotypes might change them. I'm not saying that women shouldn't! I'm saying I don't get how they don't know something that seems to obvious to me!! Everyone is getting defensive about something I don't even agree with. I'm truly sorry if I offended anyone-- that was not my intentions!

Okay, I thought about it, and this what I'm trying to get across.

I don't agree with stereotypes, but they're still out there.

People need to care enough to change their thoughts, and most of all, be aware of what they do.

Society in America, does not care enough about that otherwise studies would not produce these results on a consistent basis.

Just last year, I participated in a symposium at my university where a psychology major (like myself) conducted an experiment on peoples' perceptions on HOOTERS women. Their results found that people stereotype them as unintelligent and essentially ditzy. Does it mean that they should quit their job to be taken seriously? No, but since the stereotypes still persist, they're NOT GOING TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. Until there are more extreme measures that are taken through the media, these stereotypes will continue because not very many people care enough to stop them. So to me it seems weird that women don't realize that their actions affect how they will be treated in return.
