I am so trying parmesean now in my soup! I don't know why I didn't think of it. I don't eat the spaghetti when I make spaghetti and meatballs, only the sauce and meatballs with a ton of parmesean in it. I'm going to try it in soup now!

This makes up for you making me spit Kool Ade on keyboard in another thread.

it works best in soup with at least a little tomatoey flavor to it. if the soup hasn't any tomatoey flavor in it i will add some tomato sauce and onion powder along with the romano/parmesan cheese powder, or failing that, some sugarfree ketchup and onion powder with the cheese. bon appétit :)

Foods are eaten individually at dinner (all the peas, all the potatoes, all the meat, etc.) and they have to be eaten fully before I move onto the next food item on my plate.

Foods shall never touch or mingle on my plate

Sauces that are from one food must not touch another food on my plate or I won't eat it.

At dinner salad is eaten first because it's the yuckiest (I HATE salad, I wouldn't eat it if my mom didn't make me), then usually meat is next followed by veggies, then anything with butter or cheese on it last so the buttery/cheesy taste stays in my mouth.

Cereal is eaten without milk

I don't eat anything burned, especially toast and marshmallows. I like my toast done just barely browned. Meat can't have burned spots.

I don't eat white meat poultry, this includes chicken or turkey breast unless it's in chicken nuggets or strips.

Fruits shall never mix with veggies or be served with dinner unless they are part of dessert.

I don't eat asparagus or celery or anything with a stringy texture.

I refuse to touch dirty dishes or the sponges/wash clothes/etc. used to wash them because I don't like the feel in my hands. I also don't like touching non-eaten food.

Soda is not drank straight from the can, it must be in a glass or a glass bottle.

Those are just the ones I remember. I know there's more.

I can't bear mixed textures, ie peas and carrots cooked together or spaghetti and meatballs. Nor can I eat anything in a sauce - I am deeply suspicious of lumps.

All of one item has to be eaten before I eat the next item. Items can't touch each other on the plate or be mixed together.

I agree about soup spoons. These things are unwieldly and gigantic. I always take smaller ones, whateverthe purpose -- even though the handle on those we have right now is really tiny.

I always have my own spot around the table. Actually, it isn't exactly "the same", as we set up differently depending on how many people there are, but I know where I should be -- even when I'm elsewhere, I follow the same pattern.

I only like certain kinds of forks. If they are dirty I can force myself to use another kind but I hate it. This next part will sound odd but we have some small bowls from a deceased relative. Like my family was allowed to go through their stuff after they died & take what they wanted. I can't eat using these things. It upsets me too much. In fact I try to hide them as much as possible so that I can't see them.

I also have a variety of special cups. I hate when someone uses one for coffee or cola & doesn't rinse it in time. Then if they don't wash it well it's stained when I go to use it. I also seem to have to keep reprimanding people for leaving my favorite ones outside or putting weird food in them. In my mind you drink in cups. It grosses me out to see green beans or something being stored in mine.

My mother often references that I was unable to eat in front of others when I was younger. I now think that this is due to my clumsiness. Sometimes someone mentions if I drop something while I'm eating & I have to remember to just ignore them & not let it rile me up. I have also been made fun of for wearing a napkin when I'm wearing something nice & don't want to end up with food stains.

I like to pick my food apart when I eat it. I enjoy it better than way. Sometimes people comment on pizza because unless I'm in a hurry or something I like to eat it with a fork. I eat the toppings first, then the sauce & soft crust & then I pick it up & eat the rest of the crust.

I hate the feel of sticking your hand in a bag of chips or other snack food & feeling them all over your hand. When I eat something like that I pick them out & eat them one at a time to avoid it. It sucks though when someone says "give me a handful of those". If I can get a way with it I just hand them the whole bag in that instance.

I do not like eating the same thing every day. I prefer variety.

I know what you mean that soup in a cup thing sickens me. I also can't stand the yogurt in the tubes.

I often do this too. I hate when someone asks for "just a bite" of my food. They always wait until the end & then I get mad because "you ate the best part". xd.

I don't get the not using bowls from a dead relative part. Don't take me wrong, please. I'm not picking at this, and people say I pick at things they say, but I'm not, I'm trying to understand here. To me, dishes that are passed down are better than dishes you go buy. Anybody can just go out and buy dishes. Not just anybody can have something passed to them. An example. My china that we use is a discontinued pattern that my great grandmother had for her wedding gift. So was the crystal. I'm 47. You know my great grandmother and my grandmother are gone. My mother is close to going herself. My daughters have fought loudly over who gets what china-wise and I solved that by giving on the china and one the crystal, only to take possession after i am dead.

To me it's like a chain in the family. When I was a little girl, my grandmother set fancy dinners with it and told me about her mother. She had also told my mother about her when she set those dinners when my mother was young. (My great grandmother died young from ovarian cancer) I set the dinners with that china for my family. My daughters will set the table for their children and grandchildren with it

It may be the Southern Gothic thing where we totally over-venerate our dead, I mean come on now, we actually line up to kiss a corpse at the wake. Really. But I was raised around all that kind of thinking. So it may be totally different for you.

On a similar note, one of my husbands aunts died. I had visited with her before her death, during her sickness. I had complimented her on her beautiful nightgown. She left me all her nightgowns. To this day, I sleep in my husbands dead aunt's nightgowns. She didn't die in any of them. They are beautiful and made of beautiful material and they have no tags and no itchyness and I love them more than the few I owned before.

So I don't get the dead relatives stuff not being where you can see it. I'm not being mean, I really want to understand. What is it that bothers you about it? To me, it's an honor. Is it that it reminds you of someone that you loved, or is it simply because she's dead now? I don't like touching things that have touched dead people, but as long as they weren't dead when they touched them, I'm ok with it.

Again, I am not trying to be mean to you, I'm wondering your position on it.

I only drink water that is room temperature.

When I prepare a sandwich, the lunch meat & cheese has to be precisely layered and folded in a certain order.

I have only about 3-4 different meals I eat on a regular basis. There are maybe a grand total of a dozen different things I will alternate in for variety, but generally I stick to a small number of things I will eat all the time. And each meal is eaten a precise pattern, which is followed every time.

It is like pulling teeth to get me to try a new food, and there is a 99% chance I will not like it.

This summer I purchased a small infrared digital thermometer. I LOVE it! Now I can eat my food at exactly the perfect temp (100F-105F). I don't know how I ever got by without it :D

OH OH! i just had a thought- i can't stand drinking any beverage that is not ice-cold! coffee, tea, sodas and other soft drinks must be frigid, just on the liquid edge of freezing, or i find them to be unsatisfying and they will not really slake my thirst. only cold liquids will take away my thirst. alcoholic drinks especially must be totally chilled, there is nothing more like warm piss, than warm beer. and warm wine is like cough syrup. but good sharp aged cheddar cheese must be served at between 55 and 65 degrees F.

I eat out of the same bowl, plate and drink from the same cup. My mum bought them specially for me. The print on them looks like Beatrice Potter stories.

I hate mushy food, like when rice gets too mushy. And vegetables - ugh!

I like the sauce in my pasta to be a bit runny in case I need to reheat it the next day, or a few hours later. I usually eat it all in one sitting though and I enjoy the runny sauce. Usually it's cheese sauce.

I have to have my tea with two choc chip biscuits. I love the sensation of warm melted chocolate, and I dunk, obviously. I love to drink it at night though so sometimes it keeps me up at night and it's hard to get to sleep.

I like ice cold beverages too. I usually only drink water but I love it cold. You can't beat an ice cold beer though.

I could live off avocado and tomato on toast forever.

I eat food as though it's medication. I really only eat what will help my brain and give me energy. Fish is great for that but sometimes it makes me hyper. White bread makes me hyper too. Chocolate gives me focus. A bag of chips will make me extremely distracted and unable to focus. I go out of my way to eat avocados and leafy vegetables.

Food doesn't only touch on my plate but because I love stir fry so much most of my food gets mixed in together, I just love experiencing many flavours in my mouth.

I never drink champagne too. One, because it will either cause me to black out or have a seizure and 2, the hang over. I do my best to avoid hang overs. It's bad enough I get light sensitive migraines most days. Red wine is a big no no too. Just beer, thanks.

For breakfast I can't have a tea with my cereal. A lot of people always offer me tea or fruit or toast. I choose to eat one meal and I will only eat that one meal. If I have toast I can have a tea, but not with cereal or porridge.

I must drink water after every meal. This started when my medication dried up my mouth and now it's just something I must always do. I think I get through a litre of water a day. I must also go to the bathroom after every meal.

I have an electric stove (plug in) and I must wash it and dry it and put it away neatly after every meal (once all the food is out of it).

When my daughter was little, this is one of the things that made her stand out from the crowd. She always demanded the same cup (blue one), bowl (blue one) or cutlery. She's more flexible these days and understands that, if a certain cup isn't washed, she'll have to wait even longer for her drink, as I have to wash up first. She'd rather not wait and accepts another cup. But, I still ask her what she wants and never assume anything.

Also, I have to keep everything separate on her plate. When, I make stuffed peppers, hers aren't stuffed, the filling is beside the pepper. She won't eat sauces really, so curry and chilli are out. She loves lentil bolognese (the only saucy thing she has), tomoto risotto and sweetcorn omelette, but they are the only dishes I make for her that have food all mixed in together. Sometimes, she will eat a sandwich or wrap, as is, but other times, she will open it right up an eat everything individually. She loves soup, but they have to be pureed. That said, she's a great eater and has an excellent diet. She will quite happily munch on raw veg and any sort of healthy nut or seed.

i have TMJ so i can't handle rubbery or crunchy food. crisp is alright, but not hard. so no cucumbers or other raw veggies. i can't have more than one hard candy [sugar-free] in my mouth within a short time, as they abrade the roof of my mouth for some reason. i can do without hard inedible seeds such as caraway and tomato seeds, they get stuck painfully 'tween my teeth and are a bear to get out. i can't take the sight of sliced raw tomatoes, with that quivering sickeningly pale jelly with those pale seeds in it, it might as well be alive! and munching on raw carrots is like trying to eat a tree branch. i'd much rather the veggies were pulverized or confettied and thoroughly cooked into smoothly soft innocuousness. and i can't make my mouth open at the sight of a brown mushy banana, they gotta be on the green side of yellow for me, but not too green or they make my teeth squeak.
i love mixing food together into a big bunch of goulash, i love the mixing of the flavors. i like to think of myself as the phil spector of eating food, in that i like a big amorphous wall of flavor. the only things i can't mix are meat and fruits. i never understood the appeal of pineapple on ham. but chocolate and peanut butter are a divine mix, as is butterscotch and mascarpone. just don't put 'em anywhere near meat or cheese unless it's cottage cheese. i would love to try unusual flavors of icecream and soda, such as turkey and stuffing, or spaghetti and meatballs and parmesan, or sauerkraut and bacon, those all sound heavenly to me.

When I was a kid no two foods of mine could touch and I had to have a different fork or spoon for each food.

I didn't like to eat in front of other people when I was younger. I'm not sure why but I think I felt like they were watching me and judging me. I wouldn't even eat lunch in school because of this. That got me into a lot of trouble in school.

I'm not much into pizza but when I do have it if I'm home I eat it that was too. First the toppings, then peel off the cheese and eat that, then lick of the sauce and/or use the fork to eat the soft part of the crust if the bottom is a little hard or just eat it all except the back crust if it's soft.

I won't eat or drink anything if anyone else touches it once it's served. I won't drink from the same glass or plate as other people. I also look at and smell almost anything I eat or drink before I eat or drink it.

Do any of you eat purely for the taste and texture? I find I'm very rarely hungry, if I don't eat breakfast (which is most days) and then go out for a day trip I'll be a little hungry around 3 but would not need to eat until around 5.It's the same with drink i can go all day without drinking and used to do this quite often until I realised how bad it was for me, so I have a drink with my meal and then a couple of drinks in the evening. I only have 1 meal a day and a snack at night but they are foods that are bad for me (pasta in creamy/cheesy sauces, chocolate, candy etc). I find I never feel full or hungry and I eat because of the taste and feeling in my mouth. I can quite easily eat one of those huuuge chocolate bars purely because of the taste and texture of the chocolate in my mouth but then I HAVE to have something savoury before, during or afterwards to balance it out or my mouth feels horrible.

I also don't like foods to be too hot or too cold, if I'm having ice cream I like it to sit for a while to warm up a bit. I like my meal cooked a little while before I eat it to avoid it being too hot. It's probably why I put so much milk in my hot chocolate (warm chocolate is a more appropriate term). I don't know how my husband can drink coffee or tea as soon as it's been made, I tried doing that with chocolate a few times and it always burns my tongue and makes it feel weird for a few days. I also have a high tolerance for anything sour, all those extreme sour things taste a little zingy to me wheras my husband will be pulling faces at how bad it is. I'm the reverse with spicy foods, I can't stand anything spicy.

I used to drink juice with a spoon, just for fun. My parents used to call me a baby when I did that, but I've never seen a baby drink with a spoon....
