My obsessions with music and visual art has been with me from birth as far as I can tell. Others have come and gone and can last for any length of time between a few days and a few years. Sometimes I will return to an old obsession. My obsessions are what motivates me. If I didn't have them, I'd probably do nothing whatsoever!

My obsessions can last for anything between a couple of weeks to years. The longer lasting ones tend to go in cycles, like other people on this thread have said; the interest is always there, but I go through phases of being particularly obsessed with them. Sometimes I won't have thought about one much for a while, then something strongly reminds me of it, and I get obsessed again.

I believe my main obssession is research(if that can be called an obsession). I will go through phases of researching a subject, finding everything i can about it, but ultimately i get frustrated as they can only go so far.
My last obsession was dogs, i read all this stuff about different breeds and training etc, but it couldn't go any further as i couldn't just go and get a dog.
This is why i beleive that i haven't "got" an obsession , unless it's something like reading, and even then i go through phases.

That definately works, especially if out of this reading obsession comes one such as writing :)

I have main obsessions which last for years and minor obsessions which are shorter. The main ones have been The X-files, male homosexuality, toy birds, and Damon Albarn. They last a minium of 5 years. The minor ones last for six months, they've included Fight Club, the ennegram, Nip/Tuck and Scientology (I wasn't a Scientologist I was just obsessed with it).

I'm obsessed with samurais, swords and robots since I have memory, and I'm very proud.

But when I was 8, I was obsessed with Sonic the Hedgehog. This obsession was short lived, after 6 months I was obsessed with time-space theories, and now it's one of my main obsessions.

Mine can last from a month to a lifetime. My Lifetime obsessions come and go periodically, coming when I run into some new information and going when something else gets my interest or I run out of information to find.

My obsessions related to maps/geography and words/language/linguistics have been lifelong. Moreover, I'm convinced they've been picked up from my natural mother. If the onset of these interests has been at a very early age, I'm convinced they'll be lifelong.

My number one obsession at the moment has probably lasted two years so far now. Make a guess by my avatar and location what that is.

My main obsession is anything to do with crime, so the police, crime books/tv shows etc and I've had that ever since I was a little kid but I have..subsections if you will...like I was really really into CSI and forensic science for a while (I still like it alot but maybe not in an obsessive way) Right now I love watching the show NCIS and anything to do with special agent type cops e.g. the FBI.

So the little things I like maybe last a couple of months but the overall obsession has lasted years.

Now did all that make any sense whatsoever? :)
