Only on IRC, and only in positive ways.

More often people who know I have Asperger's ask if my boyfriend does too after hearing small amounts of descriptions of how we interact.

Sort of. I've been asked point-blank if I have Autism twice. The first time I responded in the negative (don't shoot me for lying, at the time I didn't think of Aspergers as being Autism) and the second time, I said "Technically no.." (don't shoot me) and then I was asked if I had Aspergers, after which I responded with the affirmative.

No, I don't know anyone other then my mother and a load of psyciatrists who know what it is.

Once. A girl (teenager) who was working the counter at a video store has a friend with AS, and flat-out asked me. Weird experience. I guess most of the people who would know about it nowadays would be a lot younger than me.

Yes. One of my coworkers asked me at lunch about a year back while we were discussing something completely different, just out of the blue. I lied and said no (I didn't know him that well, so I didn't really trust him). A few months ago I was talking to him again, and I admitted that I did (it had been nagging at me ever since, partially because he figured it out when I had prided myself on being able to blend in, and partially just because I lied about it). It turns out, one of his good childhood friends had asperger's, and that's how he deduced that I did as well (similar behaviors and mannerisms and such).

No. Although once at my mother's request I met up with a woman and her high-functioning autistic son with whom I spoke at length about his interests in scientific illustration. Just before I left she made a passing comment to me that has always made me wonder: "You seem so... together. It gives me hope for him."

Mostly I just get told "You're so literal" on practically a daily basis.

I haven't really had anyone compare me to Mr. Spock but I can definitely relate to this. People seem to assume that I'm a maths and computer genius, they also make assumptions that I'm some brilliant artist and over exaggerate to various extremes.

Accused of it during online arguments, yes...

I've been asked by a person I talk to daily if I had some form of mild autism before. Mostly because of my noticeable social awkwardness and confusion, unusual language skills, and my logical internalization of the world; or so I gathered after inquiring further. Other than that, I have never been asked if I had autism directly, but I'm certain that others have noticed my distinctiveness, yet couldn't label it.

Most people do not know what Asperger's is. I have been asked many time
"what is wrong with you?" and once my mom said "when I had children, I thought they were going to be normal......." that killed me

No, it's a secret, but stoner and shy are common. Otherwise, engineer usually covers it :P

That is SOOO wrong. That upsets me tremendously. Parents should love their children unconditionally, it is not their fault they got a condition they didn't ask for. But I suppose some are in denial, they use that archaic cliche "this doesn't happen to MY kids...this only happens to 'other people's' kids."

That's doesn't mean that she doesn't love her children, it just means she didn't get what she expected, caring for an autistic child is not like caring for a normal child.

Nobody's ever suspected AS with me. Even a proffessional psychiatrist was really surprised when I said I am on the Autism spectrum. She only suspected high anxiety with me.

Remember, girls can't have mental disorders, they can only have anxiety.

Is this meant to be sarcasm? Because I'm an asperger woman and I do have a mental disorder (depression)
